I have a professional collision repair shop and I have used this filter for almost 15 years to filter air for the spray booth. It is excellent. Much better than a dessicant dryer. We are not a large shop but the spray booth is used almost daily. It will last about 8 years before it requires replacement. Yes, it is designed to leak a bit and will leak even more as it begins to clog and need replacement. We have an air shutoff valve at the booth that is only turned on when we are in the booth spraying therefore it does not cause the compressor to run too much.

I have a large 80gal IR 220v 2 stage compressor and the membrane dryer does in fact leak or purge continuously so much air that it causes the compressor to run a lot. The compressor has to cycle back on too often. I do not recommend this dryer. I have the desiccant dryer as well by Sharpe but it is a pain to dry the beads in the oven. This is unfortunately not the solution.

very poor product and lousy customer service. I hooked this up to my compressor and the membrane lost so much air around the base (the manufacturer said this was normal and would not accept a return) that my compressor ran non stop. I had to shut it off after 10 minutes for fear of overheating!! I unscrewed the membrane and left the two filters in place as a temporary solution until I get this resolved. VERY POOR PRODUCT!!! DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!! Find a company that stands behind their products and a company that sells it that will stand behind what they sell.
