We use this exact brand and model for all our baking classes at the culinary school I attend, and they take a beating. Imagine baking students beating up on them day in day out and they still turn out amazing bread doughs, from baguettes to challah, or whip up a nice chantilly or cream butter and sugar in snap.Been lurking for a used one that I could buy that lasts a lifetime to snap one up. I know they are workhorses - have seen it first hand!

You don't even have to turn it on to see the difference in quality between these two machines. Open it up (if you can) look inside and there is another level of proof. But turn it on and use it, that will be the all the proof anyone could possibly need. The Globe is a ten thousand times better machine.

this is a solid and well made machine. It has two major shortcomings if you are a breadmaker. First, don't be fooled by the 800 watt motor and industrial lineage. It is no more powerful than the Kitchenaid 600 Watt machine. It can't handle a double recipe of bagel dough or even a single recipe for Challah, both of which are rather stiff doughs. Such routine loads trip the circuit breaker and the machine stops cold. SECOND, the dough hook that comes with the machine is a disaster. It is too narrow and stays way clear of the edges of the bowl. Rather than mix well, it mushes the wet stuff in the middle leaving a rim of flour along the bowl. I have to constantly stop the mixing and scoop the material on the bowl into the hook. This is not the case with the KitchenAid. If you are looking for a machine that can move the stiff doughs and mix them thoroughly, AVOID THIS MACHINE.

It really pains me to write this review. I was so hopeful before my purchase. On paper, the Globe looks fantastic: large motor, gear driven transmission, durable; a real KA killer. Before I get to the problems, let me tell you the good. The mixer is handsome and looks great in the kitchen. The bowl lift mechanism works well and the bowl is held in place by clamps. The speed dial is continuously variable but notched for the 10 speeds advertised. The mixer attachments are well built, and the top cover is easily removed for access to the motor and planetary housing. Now for the bad. This mixer creates lots and lots of heat. Mixing a double batch of pizza dough (appx. 4 lbs) caused the machine to overheat and shut down. I had to split dough in half and finish. It creates lots of heat when I mix double batches of whole wheat dough, again 65% AR and 4.15 lbs. The hook and the paddle push ingredients to the outside of the bowl, never quite incorporating the ingredients into your dough. The ingredients at the bottom of the bowl are never quite incorporated either. The final straw for me was the climbing dough problem. The design of the hook causes the dough to climb. All in all, I am very disapointed with this mixer and I returned it to the retailer where it was purchased.
