I made a tasting board for a friend and bought this set to go with it. They are beautiful glasses. A great value and gift for any whiskey lover. I think they'd be good for beer tastings as well.

We have been thinking for a while about getting proper whisky glasses instead of using small brandy snifters, and these Glencairn ones are perfect. They are well made, reasonably priced, and used in most of the official tastings. Just wish we had known about them sooner.

I was skeptical that these glasses would alter the flavor of whisky, much less improve it. They do. The best way to describe this is—these glasses are like “reference speakers” for your nose. They allow you to taste the distillers intentions without anything adulterating the flavor. My wife has actually become a whisky drinker after finally trying Some high quality bourbons and scotches using the glen carin.Very highly recommended.

I purchased this set and one arrived shattered. I immediately filed for a refund, but in researching these locally I discovered that a set of four from Total Wine, with tax, ran close to that this set cost me so I canceled the return because the value was obvious.What earned this five stars in my book is the fact that you learn things about your whiskey that you will not with a straight-wall whiskey glass. For example, while I love the taste of Maker's Mark, using this glass to truly get its nose was eye-opening. One of my favorite whiskeys smelled like paint thinner [to me] with this glass. That will not dissuade me from continuing to enjoy Maker's Mark, but it does show why this glass is designed the way it is. As a contrast, Bushmill's Red Bush Irish whiskey has some intriguing and very pleasant notes that I never noticed before getting this glass.As for size, it is perfect for a shot or double shot. Anything more than that will interfere with the way the glass is designed to capture and channel the nose of your whiskey (or other spirit - my next test will be with cognac).Personally, I love the weight of the glass, the design and the function. As upset as I was when one glass arrived shattered, that disappointment was assuaged by the experience that I've had and I highly recommend getting a set. I am planning to purchase more, but am going to pay the premium price of purchasing locally because my experience with the one broken glass has shattered [pun intended] my trust in having these glasses shipped to me.
