These great little 5V DC peristaltic pumps are perfect for dosing the viscous oil we use to lubricate our machinery! The speed can be adjusted and we get very accurate control of the oiling without needing a lot of complicated stepper motors or circuitry.

Let's face it, the world of lab equipment can drain your wallet faster than a rogue Bunsen burner. That's why, as a budget-minded biochemist, I was pleasantly surprised by the Gikfun Micro Dosing Pump. For the price of a fancy cup of lab-grade coffee (because apparently that's a thing now), you get a pair of these little liquid delivery workhorses. Not Winning Any Lab Glamour Awards, But They Get the Job Done: Look, these pumps aren't winning any design awards. They're about as sleek as a well-worn lab coat, but don't let their utilitarian appearance fool you. They churn out a respectable flow rate (enough to dispense your favorite enzyme solution without a hitch), and they can handle a decent range of voltages – perfect for when the grant money runs a little low and you have to resort to powering your experiments with hamster-wheel generators (don't judge, we've all been there).Just Don't Push Their Luck: Now, a word to the wise – these pumps, like your grad school advisor's patience, have their limits. Continuous use is not recommended, so don't expect them to be your workhorse for marathon protein purifications. Think of them more like the trusty grad student intern – eager to please and surprisingly capable, but needing a well-deserved coffee break every now and then. The Verdict: A Budget-Friendly Biohacking EssentialFor the price, the Gikfun Micro Dosing Pumps are a solid choice for the budget-conscious biohacker or the scientist who just needs a reliable dispenser for occasional tasks. They might not be the flashiest tools in the shed, but they'll get the job done without breaking the bank. Just remember, treat them well and they'll treat you well (and maybe even survive a minor incident with a rogue pipette tip – no promises though!).

I use these types of pumps for a variety of electronic projects and am currently using the Gikfun Micro Dosing Pump for a biology project.Accuracy: I conducted a few flow rate calibrations on both the low and high flow rates and found these to be ~10(+-). I would consider this in your projects and verify the flow rate.Appearance: The pump is designed to be used in many scenarios, so the design is simple. If you need a polished product with a case and controller, this isn't it.Connection: This pump requires a controller (Pi, Arduino, etc ) to control the flow rate. It also requires a DC power source.Overall, good product from Gikfun.
