Lasted 6 months, remote base died, then the base started acting up, answering machine stopped working and was acting erratic. Bought for my elderly father for the design, don't buy.

Bought this phone for my 95 year old mother in law. The only thing good about this set is the large numbers. Poor quality. Very difficult to set up and understand. Bought this in March and by June the answering machine would not work. I trashed it and bought a better quality set.

Buen tamaño de las teclas, sonido implecable.Coincido en que, no es trivial agregar numeros a la agenda, pero, tampoco es "rocket science".No es que sea confuso, sino que, no es intuitivo, eso provoca que falles en dar de alta algun numero en la agenda.

Got this for my grandmother who is blind in one eye and has difficulty hearing. At first it was ok but only lasted about 2 or 3 months. Have dealt with multiple issues.

I purchased this telephone for an elderly friend who is hard of hearing and has sight issues. The unit has a nice bright display but it is so complex to use and has ongoing issues, in particular with the voice mail. A friend telephoned the company in Germany twice to try to get it set up correctly; neither phone call produced any resolution. I feel bad that I purchased this item for her that has only resulted in frustration and poor service for her.

These phones seemed perfect for my mother with reduced vision. She could read the large print in reverse-video.The interface is a bit odd - everything we would expect is there, just creatively different than you would expect. Not intuitive at all. It all works, but it is not intuitive - just persist through setting it up and then it will be fine.UPDATE: after about 3 months of use we recycled them. The units would sometimes crash, requiring a power-cycle to recover. The answering machine recorded a bad message once, it would crash and reboot if you tried to play the messages. I finally found I could delete all messages without playing and then it was OK (except then we lost any real messages after the fatal-message without hearing them). Finally we gave up on it.

This is the simplest cordless phone for seniors that I could find. My mom doesn't know how to use a cell phone and messes up most cordless phones because they have many commands on each button. This phone has big luminated buttons and most buttons have only one command. Great phone for stubborn seniors that don't want to learn all the new technology.

My son broke our handset so had to replace it.But a note about the Gigaset controls. This has the least intuitive settings I've ever dealt with in a home phone. Can't get anything done right without closely reading the manual's instructions. This is enough that I wish we'd bought something else in the first place. But the replacement handset is fine, works very well once set up.

This is a great phone that looks good too, not just for "Seniors", the keypad is more ergonomic than many other models. I chose it because I had a previous Siemens Gigaset that lasted over 20 years. It has many useful features, so download the PDF manual from the link on the Amazon product page! Here are some further notes: Redial is a LONG press of the talk key, dialing is short (that's backwards). The area codes under Telephony aren't described; set "area code" to avoid dialing it when returning local calls with 7-digit dialing; set two "extra" codes instead to avoid dialing "1" in a 10-digit dialing area (that's from other Gigaset manuals). Enjoy.
