I love this tape measure, there are dozens of them on the market, apparently, but all you need is this basic one. You can measure something and make the measuring stick hold when you push the button on the side of the thing. Then you release it and it flies back home. Tape size is perfect, lightweight but sturdy housing.

I like that it has both imperial (inches and feet) and metric markings on both sides. It is also stiff enough to stand out on its own for 5 or 6 feet, maybe more. The belt clip is a must have. The clip is a little stiff to use, but it stays put.
