Ordered this kit for my pre-2013 20kw Generac unit and arrived on time with parts matching currently installed on unit including sparks, circular air filter and oil filter. Also came with other items like disposable funnel, Chamois and maintenance sticker that I didn't use but can be helpful. Including warm up time and it being slow to drain, entire process still took less than 1/2 hour and saved me almost $600 by service company.

Home Depot used to carry this kit and am glad that Amazon offers it. All you have to purchase along with the kit is the oil. It includes everything else you need to service your generator. My generator is going on about 15 years old and need to keep it going in great condition. This kit is very important to keeping it serviced. I recommend this product and will continue to purchase.

This is the only kit that I will purchased. Everything you ever need is included, the price is excellent.Wipe the slate clean, two orders were perfect. The third order had the wrong size air filter. I also see I’m not the only person with that problem. Do you not inspect what you’re sending out. There’s a problem that needs attention here!!Update: I reordered the kit again and received the correct filter this time. My faith has been somewhat restored. It’s always good to have a couple of kits in reserve, so I’ll order another just to see if I’ll get the correct one. The star rating has gone back up!

We live in the middle of the "Hurricane Alley" Texas gulf coast and last year we bought and had installed a Generac 20KW totally automatic natural gas fired 999cc generator from Wired Electric, who did a nice job at a decent price. Part of the secret to anything mechanical lasting more than a couple of years is proper and regular maintenance. In the case of the Generac here, once a year you need to change air filter, oil filter, spark plugs and motor oil to keep your warranty current. Wired lets the homeowner do that if they wish so long as they document the maintenance and can prove they did, in deed do the scheduled work at the scheduled intervals and did it properly and correctly. I am a mechanicaly inclined guy so I opted to do that, according to the owners manual and precisley as instructed with genuine replacement parts. OK, so what does a "kit" consist of?Well, in the box there is a spin on replacement oil filter and a dandy paper funnel to put the oil in your motor, a little handy spark plug wrench and two Champion replacement plugs, an exact fit air filter and a drop cloth to help with any spills. I have seen guys charging 40 bucks or more per kit and when I found this provider offering the same for only 15 bucks a pop, I said "stock up". And I did just that. Exactly as described and exactly as the factory originals because it is factory original merchandise at an affordable rate. Oh yeah, our Wired technician, Joe told me to use a high quality 10/W/40 oil when changing it out. Takes 1.9 US quarts which includes oil filter capacity when changed every year. I selected Mobil fully synthetic "High Mileage" oil since this is an air cooled motor and who knows when it may be used for considerable days on end in the event of whatever perils lurk out there? I know my other Texas based reviewer says he does not recommend using synthetics in warm climates (Based on what???) I wanted to back up my recommendation to use synthetic oil in ANY air cooled motor with the following recommendation from aircooled.net's own tech talk forum "Since synthetic oil has better heat transfer qualities than dino oil, your internal engine temperatures will be lower. Things like bearings, especially, will not operate at as high of a temperature as a result. The wider range of temperatures that synthetic oil can withstand is well suited for the air-cooled VW engine. With head temperatures normally between 300-350 degrees, synthetic will not breakdown while lubricating the valve train components at the heads. The better lubricating properties of synthetic in general will lead to a longer engine life as well. On average, when synthetic oil is run in an air-cooled VW engine, head temperatures stay the same, but engine oil temps reduce by anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees. This is in identical engines that have all the correct cooling tin in place, and are not suffering from overheating to begin with. Important note: Do not run synthetic to fix a hot running engine. Find the real reason it's running hot, and fix it!" There you have it. Your Generac is also an AIR COOLED engine and is made of the same materials as a VW, Corvair or any other air cooled engine. This is THEIR recommendation, not mine. Go for it.

5665 Maintenance Kit for 20kW, 999cc EngineNOTE: AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS REVIEW, THE AMAZON PICTURE IS NOT THE ACTUAL KIT IN QUESTION THAT WE RECEIVED, THERE ARE ONLY 2 SPARK PLUGS FOR THE 20KW KIT AND THE COLOR OF THE OIL FILTER WAS DIFFERENT. THE KIT RECEIVED IS THE CORRECT KIT FOR THE MODEL ENGINE IN QUESTION.THIS KIT IS OEM ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER PARTS FOR GENERAC N G 2010 MODEL 5525-1 (0055251):2 X SPARK PLUGS (COMES WITH A WRENCH) NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO BUY A FEELER GUAGE TO MEASURE GAP (0.030" FOR 20KW VERSION NEEDED)OIL FILTER (YOU NEEED TO BUY A 2 1/2" FILTER WRENCH)AIR FILTERTHESE ITEMS ARE IDENTICAL TO THE FACTORY INSTALLED ITEMS. I COMPARED EACH ITEM TO THE ACTUAL IN THE FACTORY INSTALLED ITEMS IN THE GENERATOR AND THEN WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE TO COMPARE AND AFTER IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE THERE WAS NOTHING TO IMPROVE, SO I USED EXACTLY WHAT I GOT IN THE BOX.YOU NEED TO PURCHASE THE OIL. I WAS TOLD BY THE AUTO PARTS STORE NOT TO USE SYNTHETIC UNLESS YOU ARE IN SEVERE COLD AREA UP NORTH. I AGREE WITH THAT RECOMMENDATION.VERY CONVENIENT TO HAVE IT ALL IN ONE KIT.REGARDS FROM TEXAS!!!
