Everything works well except the poor packaging of the gasket it looked to be fine until it was installed and noticed a tiny seep of coolant coming from underneath the water pump most likely a weak spot in the gasket. Just something to be cautious of when buying this kit otherwise it works well.

I bought this Gates Timing Belt kit for my 2005 Nissan Xterra 2 weeks ago. And it comes with instructions on how to install it. The belt also has marks for the rocker arm gear and crankshaft pulley. The price is very affordable and highly recommend this to my friends.

I returned the timing belt kit because the belts cable core was rusty. My concerns were regarding possible separation of the belt. All other parts in the kit looked fine

Somewhat of a pain, but not too bad. The gates belt has timing marks that lined up perfectly for my 2002 Nissan Frontier Crew cab. Had an issue with the water pump gasket, had to replace the first one, pretty sure it was my fault though, first time. Been on for a couple months now, no problems! Make sure you use the spring from the old tensioner, or buy new! Does not include tensioner spring!

Bought the kit on May 5th, installed it on my 2001 Xterra that I had jut picked up and appeared to have its original belt. Kit was of good quality and fit exactly as expected. When installing, make sure that all bolts are properly torqued and that the belt tension is correct. As I haven't seemed to have blown up mine yet, I guess I did it correctly.Make sure to pick up some RTV to seal the water pump, and get a harmonic balancer puller to properly remove the crank pulley. Also, the included instructions are for a VG30 engine, but this is the correct kit for the VG33E.

I ordered this kit to perform the recommended timing belt service on my 2002 Nissan Frontier. I was expected some lower quality parts since the kit was so cheap, but the parts are definitely top quality. I would recommend this kit to anyone with more than 100k miles that is frequently getting a check engine light. In my case the ECU was throwing a knock sensor and catalyst out of threshold error. These errors are caused by slack in the timing belt which cause the valves and ignition to get slightly out of time. After 10k miles of driving with the new belt in all different conditions, I haven't had a single check engine light and my fuel economy jumped up about 4 mpg.Anyone that tries to tackle this job is going to run into a major problem with getting the crankshaft pulley off. After trying just about every tool I owned for removing a pulley (including breaking a strap wrench), I finally ended up using a ratcheting tie down strap to loosen and tighten the pulley. I started by removing the part of the strap with the ratcheting mechanism, then tightly wrapped the strap (without the ratchet) about 5 or 6 times around crankshaft pulley. From there I simply hooked the end of the strap to the frame and used a breaker bar to loosen the pulley. With this configuration, the strap pulls itself tighter and tighter around the pulley and holds tight enough to break the bolt free. To re-install the pulley, simply wrap the strap in the opposite direction and hook it to the opposite side of the frame.

Well known brand, good quality parts.Doing a water pump & timing belt on Nissan's VG33E can be a royal PITA to do (be prepared to rip everything apart), but it's better than having the original belt blow & crash your valvetrain. This kit does NOT include a new tensioner spring. While I wasn't too thrilled about that, I ordered another one for $8 or so. In the end, not a bad deal.Hey, it's Gates. It's not like it's a knockoff brand either. Could do a lot worse for the money.
