Discussed with tech support and no other cause could be determined for the new belt running forward by about 1/4” on the cam pullies and crank gear. Replaced with old tensioner and belt ran in the appropriate position. Will reorder and start a return on this one.

It's installed, and seems like a good quality belt. It's much quieter than the previous timing belt/ tensioner kit, but this kit is missing the spring for the tensioner. You should replace the spring as well. My old one was a bit rusted so I ended up having to wait on that part. Imagining that thing giving out and a piece of rusted spring steel running amok. Replace the spring.

Had a belt break and strip out on my 02 SC SE Xterra, even though this is a interference engine I decided to give this a try before going deeper. Replaced the belt and tensioner and truck fired right back up light nothing was ever wrong. A++ saved me from having to buy an engine. Lines on belt helped with getting timing on point.

Timing belt kit came as described sealed in a plastic container. They seal these in the plastic so the rubber belt does not dry rot in storage. Everything running fine so far. Gates timing belts are top of the line.

Nice OE quality Koyo bearing and I have never had a Gates belt fail even with some going over 125K miles.

It has the same amount of teeth as my Villager required, it was the same length, and has the same tooth shape. It also has a sturdy construction, worthy of 5 stars. However, I deducted two stars because the timing alignment marks on this belt did NOT match the marks on my vehicle's cam and crankshaft gears! The Gates company needs to put a disclaimer on their belts that states that not all timing belts line up properly on some vehicles they are designed to fit.This product also came with a friendly sticker on the wrapping that said "This product not returnable if seal is broken."Because of Gate's neglegence, I lost several hours while replacing my belt due to confusion and in the end, mis-aligned a gear by two teeth.The tensioner is a direct replacement for the original, but, there are no instructions regarding exactly how the tensioner spring should be installed. As in, what angle should it go? Does it rest on the threaded post? Or to the bottom left, panel thing? (Post) That took a guess or two to get it, but C'mon Gates! That would have been an extra, what, four words in your instructions? "Spring rests on post."I will not purchase another gates Product again.
