Check the belt over very carefully. Appears they put glue in a misform rather than some random material being stuck between belt and press. Returning

why not install the best if it takes 4 hr just to get to it. then 4 hr to install.

Not knowing how it will perform over time, it is hard to assess but it looks well made & I have no reason to doubt that it will perform very well over time. I am very satisfied at this stage. Gates is a reliable brand

Struggled with two Dayco timing belts....Almost impossible to get on. Initially I thought they gave me the wrong belt, but after second belt same issues with fitment. Took me about 1/2 hour of struggling with belt in order to finally get it on. Timing marks would go out of alignment because of tight belt. Car ran terrible because timing was off. Came across reviews for the gates belt and decided to try. Right from the start I match the Dayco belt up against the Gates belt and the Gates belt was slightly longer. I aligned the timing marks just as my service manual instructed and the Gates belt slipped onto the tensioner with minimal effort!! Thanks Gates for making sure the belts you manufacture and sell are OEM Spec!!!
