I haven't used it for diving yet, just smart watch mode so far. Display is nice and bright and battery life is as advertised. The inductive buttons on the other hand are hit and miss at best, Sometimes they work. Sometimes it takes multiple presses to get what I want. I question the long term reliability. I have had a Fenix 6 for a few years. The Mk3i is giving me vastly different numbers on sleep scores, etc. Maybe I just got a clinker. Probably returning it.

Replaced my Suunto D5 with this beast. Absolutely beautiful watch with all around capability for all activities but especially great for diving. I enjoy freediving as well as scuba and this watch really does it all perfectly.

I've worn a Garmin watch for more than a decade, starting with the forerunner 920xt, fenix 5, 6, epix 2. the consolidation of all my health stats and activities in one place and the amount of detail is unmatched by any other trackerI chose the descent because I'm getting into diving. at first I thought the fenix 8 was right for me but the air integration is a must. helps you track your air consumption in much more detail (see the reviews for the descent t2 transmitter)the fenix 8 is also limited to recreational depths, and if you remotely think you might want to get into tec diving or deeper depths, you need the descentas someone who also tracks all runs, bike rides, hikes, workouts etc, the descent is the closest thing to the perfect daily companionthe only minor downside is that the screen is not quite as large as dedicated high end dive computers like the shearwaters, but all the functionality is there

I had the Mk1, upgraded to the Ml2 then to this when released. The upgraded screen is amazing and they have fixed the issue with accidental button presses.
