I took off a star because the clasp is not very secure. I was going to take off another star because I could not see how to shorten the length. The instructions they have in one of the figures is for a different model, but it puts you on the right track. Only thing is that you will need a jeweler's screwdriver to pry open the adjustment clasp. If you don't have a tiny screwdriver, you can probably use a nail or even a pen.
