Pretty good lens for the price, dark shades is good for the long shifts of welding to minimize wear on your eyes.

Unfortunately, this review will be far too late for most who might be interested in using it as I did. Few if any regular (fixed tinted) welding helmets are dark enough for viewing the sun. However, I was able to add this to mine and make it dark enough to watch the recent eclipse.I also had some cheap mylar glasses which were very inconsistent and sometimes too dark to see anything.

It's as dark as it was advertised, but unfortunately I misread the dimensions so it was too small for me to use often

I watched the eclipse by attaching my old glass lens to my instant on mask. It was then that I discovered that my lens was only shade 10. I ordered this 12 to add a little safety and to have around in case the moon dragon eats the sun again some time. This Forney is a quality lens.
