I received this chest protector yesterday and all I can say is, "Wow!"I've had four different chest protector in my 23+ years umpire career, and I've always tried to hedge quality and price. I've always been fairly happy with my choices, but have always wondered what it would be like to have a higher end model. Would there really be that much difference in fit and feeling of security?Now, to be fair, I haven't worn this in a game yet, but after spending about 20 minutes adjusting the straps for a "perfect" fit, and then trying it on under an umpire shirt, it fits and feels like the price was well worth it.I now have much better protection around my neck and collarbone, on my shoulders, and across my mid-section.The thin profile allows me to wear a normal sized shirt without having to go up a size for my chest protector.It comes with a removeable abdominal extender, which is perfect for me as I'm recovering from an abdominal hernia repair surgery, and will need the extra three or so inches.I can't wait for next season!
