It gives you a noticeable upgrade over stock gears...stock are made from a soft cast material that will break under higher power loads and power on landings. These gears are a hardened steel and give you the ability to send more power through while minimizing damage to these main diff gears. Well made and fits as it should. Just remember don't put these in dry.

I have an older version of the 1/16th scale Hyper Go trucks that came with cast pot metal gears. They have since upgraded them to powder metallurgy gears that are supposed to be stronger. I was going to get the MJX upgraded spur and pinion until I came across this steel set.Inspecting these gears, they do actually appear to be steel. The gears are black but looking inside the pinion where it's unpainted , it looks like steel and a magnet does stick to them. All the teeth on the spur and pinion look perfect. The are some visible tooling marks on the face on the spur. On my spur, the holes look fine on one side. On the other side, it looks like the bit didn't go deep enough through so some the holes aren't perfectly round. The were also some tiny slivers of steel stuck to edges along and what looks like flecks of black paint. I was easily able to clean these up. I was going to get out my Dremel and fix the holes that weren't perfectly round but decided it wasn't needed. On the stock gears, the pinion attached to the spur with a screw. These are just friction fit. It is a tight fit, too tight to be done by hand. You will need a tool on some sort to tap the pinion into the spur. I used a heavy pair of pliers because that's what was in front of me.The gears were a direct drop in my truck. They fit right on the driveshaft and I have no issues with binding.I can give these gears a recommendation for 1/16th scale Hyper Go owners. They are five dollars less than the MJX gears and they are solid steel. The issues I had with mine were just cosmetic and don't effect performance. Hopefully mine is just a one off and the gears you receive will be perfect.
