I've been searching for a countertop bowl for my kitchen, coastal theme. This was exactly the style and color I was looking for. I opened the box and was very pleased at the size and appearance, but when I set it on the counter, I started hearing "pinging" noises. Upon inspection, I could see hairline fractures appearing all over the bottom and sides of the bowl. I put it back in the packing box before it got any worse. I was afraid it might shatter if the cracking didn't stop. I don't know how it was handled before delivery. I'm in a hot climate and maybe it sat on the truck or in a hot warehouse too long (?), but I brought it in the house within minutes of it being delivered to my shady porch, and the cracking started within 20 minutes of unpacking. So sad to have to return this, but the price doesn't warrant keeping a defective item, even if it was only for display.

Love the size of this bowl. Looks great on the lower shelf of my living room end table. Solid weight, great value for the money. Especially love the color!!

This piece is a work of art. I love the design. The only issue is that there are a few rough edges where the design has been cut out. So I gave it a 4 for the reason. If it were smoother where the holes are cut out, it would have been perfect. Overall, I still like it.

There is another reviewer who said she quickly ran this bowl under tepid water and now it won't stop making a cracking sound. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY BOWL. The rim of the base is unglazed and my guess is the water absorbed under the glaze? It has been cracking for hours! What a shame. Besides the annoying, scary cracking sound, this bowl has spots that are not painted. Little flaws all over. The quality control during manufacturing needs to improve. This piece is too pricey for it to be so poorly finished. The design and size is fabulous, but up close it looks bad.EDIT: Its been several days and this bowl is STILL making cracking noises. If it wasn't so perfect for my beach condo kitchen table I would throw it away!

I saw the other reviews indicating that they had received chipped or defective items so was a bit worried. I went over this very carefully and fortunately, I don't see any overt issues.The bowl is beautiful and has a wide variety of uses -- as a centerpiece on a dinner table or a bowl for fruit etc. Currently I have it in my china cabinet with a (fake) flower arrangement in it and it really dresses up the arrangement and provides a nice focal point.It would also look great on a console table or side table with shells, pine cones, or other decorative baubles to add a bit of classic rustic charm.I will say that it doesn't exactly arrive in a nice gift box that you might expect from a brand like Fitz and Floyd. So if you are wanting to gift this, the pockaging is underwhelming and no obvious markers that it is a Fitz and Floyd bowl unless you look on the bottom![LCVR]
