Bought 2 and returned 2. Staple holes in both. The second one came damaged beyond staple holes everywhere.

I used this fireplace mantel for a floating shelf with big letters spelling HOME with eucalyptus wreath in place of the O. I placed the block letters placed on the shelf with the wreath leaning up against the wall and it looks amazing with pictures of family underneath. Quality shelf. I would recommend

Obviously, based on price and material, this is not a top quality mantel. I knew this and purchased as a temporary solution while I look for the right long-term design choice. I like the contemporary look, without visible wood grain. Pictures in my review may not be as helpful as I hoped, but one side has a split about 4" long that was "repaired" with a trim nail but unfinished wood is still visible. Other pics show trim nails sticking out and/or crooked. Poor quality control. My husband and I easily installed it today. We're not returning it only because it's good enough to get us through the next 1-2 months. Maybe we can repurpose it somehow so it doesn't have to be discarded. The pre-drilled holes didn't align with any studs so we had to use sheetrock anchors. I wouldn't trust more than 5 lbs of decorations on it.

It arrived quickly and well packaged so it was not damaged during shipment. It was easy to install. Craftsmanship and quality assurance is lacking. As you can see in the picture, it has a spot on the front that the stain looks different then the rest of the wood. Most concerning was that the front board wasn't lined up and you can see the unstained edge of the top board sticking up. I plan to sand it down and retain it so I can make it look right. If you just want it to look great out of the box, I wish you better luck than I had.

Now...it is a little lighter than the stock photo. I bought a small can of Kona Varathene gel stain...brushed it on..wiped it off and nice dark color. The grain still shows through. Easy to put up. The last photo is the color it was. Still nice..just too light for me.

Just what we were looking for to add to our fireplace/build in my husband and I built. The color was a little off from what we wanted but was still beautiful just didn’t go with the look we were looking for so we sanded and stained and it turned out beautiful!
