I really did my research before getting this mic because I was under the impression you couldn’t get good audio without spending a fortune, & I really was not in any way prepared to spend a lot of money on a microphone. That said, I did actually need it. After watching countless YouTube videos & reading thru a couple forums I finally decided on the Fifine k688, & I’m glad I did. For starters, the audio quality for the price is unmatched! Also, this mic is extremely easy to use, making it perfect for beginners. What I really love are the feature - you have a USB C port that makes it plug & play, a 3.5mm jack input for headphones, a mic gain knob, and a headphone gain knob both right on mic. This means you can adjust how high or low your input audio is (you voice) & you can also adjust the volume on the headset. That’s not all tho, the mic also comes with an XLR port - which brings me to the other reason why this is such a great beginner mic - once you’re a bit familiar with your audio preferences & are ready to upgrade slightly without breaking the bank, you can get an audio mixer (the Fifine Ampli1 is an amazing budget option & pairs extremely well with this mic) connect the two with an XLR cable & take your audio to the next level!! The mic sounds really good as is via USB C, but it’s punchier & cleaner via XLR into a mixer. It’ll also give you more control, but that’s another review coming soon haha. Anyway, this mic is an AMAZING product highly recommend as a starter mic you won’t be disappointed!!! Enjoy & good luck!

I'm truly impressed by the FIFINE Dynamic Microphone. As an audio enthusiast and an avid podcaster, I am always on the lookout for high-quality equipment that can deliver excellent sound, and this microphone has exceeded my expectations. What immediately caught my attention was the dual XLR/USB connectivity. This feature offers me great flexibility, allowing me to connect the microphone to a variety of devices. Whether I'm recording on my PC using the USB connection or hooking up to an audio interface with the XLR, I've found that the audio quality remains consistently excellent. The sound reproduction from the FIFINE Dynamic Microphone is fantastic. It captures my voice with great clarity, ensuring my listeners can hear every word clearly. The dynamic nature of the mic means it's excellent at rejecting background noise, which has significantly improved the cleanliness of my recordings. Even when I'm not in the most soundproof environments, I've noticed less ambient noise in my podcasts. The build quality is another standout feature. The microphone feels solid and robust in my hands, and it's been able to withstand the rigors of regular use. Plus, the sleek design gives it a professional aesthetic that looks great in my setup.I also appreciate the ease of use. The setup process was straightforward, with no need for additional drivers. Just plug and play, which is perfect for getting down to recording without fuss. The microphone's volume control is a handy feature, allowing me to quickly adjust my input level on the fly.In terms of value for money, I can confidently say that the FIFINE Dynamic Microphone is worth every penny. Given its high-quality sound, sturdy build, and the flexibility offered by its dual connectivity, this microphone has become a key component of my recording setup.

The Fifine K688 is a nice follow up to the K658. They added the ability to go XLR as well as USB with this one. There are differences between the two beyond that however.Build: The build is solid of the K688. All heavy materials give it a decent heft and feel. It does come pre-mounted on the included shock mount. The shock mount works very well and is also build well. The pop filter is grey this time around and is a really soft material. It is not like other pop filter materials you may be used to. It's luxurious to touch even.Plug and Play: YES! You can use the provided 8.2ft usb-c cable and plug it right into your PC or console and be ready to go. There is no software required. If going XLR, you will need a mixer/interface to get this going. You will use the power from the mixer/interface and will not need the USB. However, if you want the functions on the Mic still, you will need to plug in the USB separately to a PC as well as the interface if you want to.Sound: I found the sound of this mic to be very good for the price! I say for the price because you will have P's and S's be a bit sharp at times. Plosives to pop through with the included pop filter if you aren't careful and the S sounds can sizzle a bit at times. You do need to speak closely to this mic to get the right volume but I did find adjusting the angle a bit to how it is pointed at your mouth can help to reduce those plosive/hiss sounds. My only downside is I wish the shock mount did not come preinstalled. With different types of mic boom arms out there, it would be nice to choose the way you install on the shock depending on how you want the logo to face. It's an easy enough work-around and not enough to take a star off of the review.Over all I think this is an excellent budget option Mic! Compared to the K658, I would say the 658 gives you the added RGB and a slightly different sound. The sound on the 658 can be a bit more harsh if you don't have the gain set right and I found the XLR option on the 688 to be my favorite.
