I am still not decided as to what I think of this reed. It definitely has a wonderful and rich clarinet tone for most of the range of the instrument. The chalumeaux and throat tone ranges are excellent. I have problems though with the altissimo range especially the extremely high pitches. I find that the super range of A to C impossible to make speak at all. No synthetic reed brand that I have played can't yet played that range so it is not inherent to this brand. I did write a note to the company but as yet (over a month) have not heard back from them. If you are not a professional clarinetist and don't intend to play the extreme range than this is not a problem. For most music you will probably never see those notes though I think the Spohr concerto does go to the altissimo C in a cadenza.

If it works well with your mouthpiece, the Fibracell reed can be a good option for those who play multiple reed instruments on the same show. Plays consistently from reed to reed. Try it and see if ut works for you.

Plays like the best reed out of a box on the first go! No moisture necessary, which is great if you have dry mouth. I find the 3.5 to play like a 2.75; that is, not quite as hard as a three, but harder than a 2.5. For me, and the mouthpiece I play on, this is a good strength. I prefer this over the Legere. Now if only Fibracell had reeds for the Eb clarinet.

Reed was labeled 3.5; I bought it because other reviews claimed it played about 0.5 soft. It actually plays more like a 2.5. Terrible throat tone and hard to play high notes. I play a standard Van Doren #3 and a VD V21 #3; both of these are much stiffer than the Fibercell 3.5! Beware. Perhaps the one I got was mislabeled?

I just got this reed today and the sound right out of the box was PHENOMENAL. Much better than the cane reeds I had been using. This reed sounded smooth all the way up and down the range of the clarinet, too, whereas the cane reeds were always a balancing act between too hard for the low notes and too soft for the high ones. (Just for reference I usually use a Vandoren 3, or a 3.5 in other brands.)And to think, I only bought this reed because I'm playing a gig with long breaks and I didn't want to worry about it drying out. That's still a big plus, of course, but I can't believe the difference in tone that it makes! I don't think I'll be using anything else from here on out.

lasts much longer than conventional reeds and gives a richer more rounded tones. Less "squeaking" on certain notes.

Lasts a long time, doesn't require warming up. Decent price as well. I definitely recommend Fibracell reeds for middle school kids.
