This is a great item. It keeps my small shop neat and tidy. Partner it with the Workcenter and u will have the most versatile equipment.

This thing deserves 5 stars, but maybe the lowest 5 stars possible.Pros: For its basic purpose, it’s fantastic and solves the design problems created by the Festool extractors. In the shop, you are constantly battling a Festool octopus of power cords and dust hoses. This gets everything out of the way and prevents the trip hazards and constant snags on every surface imaginable. Seriously, these hoses snag on work pieces, tracks, saw horses - literally anything with a corner or edge. It’s pretty annoying and not sure how I put up with it for so long. Also, all hooked up, Festool tools are rear heavy and the ergonomics of that over the course of an entire day can sometimes be brutal on hands/wrists. This alleviates the strain of fighting that. Once assembled, this thing is rock solid. So, 5 stars for all of the above. It does what I paid for it to do.Cons: Oof. Here we go. This thing does nothing to solve problems in the field. It’s a shop tool only and as such means the connected extractor shall also never see the inside of a customers home. That means you are paying more money for one tool to get less use out of another that sort of exists to be mobile. For real, the CT48 glides around so effortlessly, but this thing turns it into an anchor. The CT48 is an expensive machine to justify just sitting in one spot. I also have a MIDI and now I need it more than ever. The footprint of this thing is also quite large once assembled and my general impression of it is that it’s kinda goofy. It seems really over engineered, especially the anti-tip legs. Assembly isn’t terrible but still kinda sucks - unrelated components are really close together in a few places. It uses a few different sets of screws and they don’t all have the same head on them. Dear god, why do engineers do this - is annoying. Seems like a lot of components for what it is. I could not get the tip piece of the boom to fully seat and engage in the rest of the arm - I have seen other reviews stating the same. It pivots smoothly, but feels like the range could be wider. Overall, between the range it has and the length of the hose and cord, the overall reach isn’t that long. It feels like it was built to hover over one MFT and, again, it’s not very portable so this is a bit of a problem potentially. In my shop, I have two connected MFTs and an adjacent workbench - I don’t think it could span them for sanding and on larger table tops or whatever, I would be testing it’s limits. If you install this thing, you are removing the cord reel - I guess you can just dump the cord into the hose garage when needed, but now you have another loose part and two very specific screws to keep track of if you ever remove the boom.I guess to summarize, I would buy it again. If I never trip over these hoses again in my shop it’s worth it. However, look at this list of cons. Is cringeworthy and so long I prob forgot a couple things. It’s well made, but poorly engineered and transforming the CT-48 into a stationery tool requires lots of consideration. Reading my own review has made me sad.

Keeping your hose off the ground is a real useful treat. There is some good and bad that comes with this attachment. The good is pretty obvious, hand off the floor boom that twists about easily and helps you stay organized. The bad, a handy boom that swings around but makes the dust collector less mobile in your shop, especially a smaller one (say two car garage). After using it for about a month I’d never go back but you have adjust your style a little. Over all I would highly recommend the boom.

I bought this form a local retailer to make working with the guide rails easier, but there are a few things you should consider before buying.1.) make sure you have enough ceiling height. My shop is small and I like to hang things from the ceiling. This limits the complete mobility for my application, but still work 90% of the time.2.) Couldn't figure out how to keep the power cable reel on the back3.) Taking motor off to empty the bag is very tight as one of the handlebar supports presses on the motor housing creating pressure against the housing. All said and done I would probably buy this again and recommend to a friend, with the same warning. It is well built and quality is there, but a few of the bolts that came with the kit had bunged up threads and were unusable.
