My personal taste doesn't really run to the medieval, but this would be a great gift for a Renaissance Festival fan. I was primarily curious about the stainless steel nibs, which seem to work very well and should be quite resistant to corrosion. The wide flourish at the top helps stabilize the pen and prevents twisting while writing. If you'd like to try your hand at calligraphy, this would be a good kit to give it a go.
