Love this product for keeping all manor of bugs off. My mare refuses to be sprayed so this works for her. The only negative is the probable toxicity of it, I use gloves to apply and figure it's worth it for the horses to be bug free. I have used this product for over 30 years.

I've tried many horse fly/gnat sprays and have always been disappointed (even Farnam sprays). No matter what they claimed, the flies were back in a short time or they never even left in the first place. I was excited when I saw that this product was the original formula fly wipe I used when I was young even though it is pricey now ($93 a gallon).This was one of the worst years for gnats in western NC that anyone can remember; I had to buy a gnat net to wear myself when working around the horses. The swarm of gnats caused the horses to stay in the barn, throwing their heads around and stomping their feet until I put on the wipe. As soon as I put it on their ears and face, they calmed right down. As I applied the wipe to their legs, I could see the flies move to the unprotected legs until all the legs were protected and no flies or gnats were landing on them. It still is helping control flies and gnats the next day.I wear rubber gloves and use an old towel to apply the wipe. I keep the wipe and towels in an unused stall because I don't want that strong smell in my tack room and it may be helping to keep flies out of the barn too. I would rather spend $93 for something that works all day than $50 for something that last 30 minutes and that gallon goes a long way.

This is the best insecticide for horses on the market . I had a professional horse business for 30+ & still have horses now. I have been using this Wipe for 40+. I use it every day covering the entire horse from head to toe. All my horses during entire fly, mosquito , black fly season.. Whenever a new product would come out, I would try it.....usually because it was cheaper. None ever worked as well as Wipe. Farnam makes many different insecticides for horses at all different prices. Strongones, weak ones for folks who think chemicals will hurt their horses. I've had a little flaky skin a few times but I think that is because if you don't shake up the container each time you use it , Only once did I have a mare swell up from this product. I put her on Bute immediately and in a couple of hours she was back to normal. I didn't use it on her for a year but decided to try it again and it didn't bother her at all. Used it on her the rest of her life. I have had horses on it from birth throughout their entire lives. No cancer. I've owned hundreds of horses. Never had one with cancer. This product is the most expensive one on the market but it is also the best. If you want your horses free from stinging insects for 12 to 24 hours at a time, this will do it. It does need to be reapplied if the horse sweats. Sweat will carry any product off.
