This kit provides all of the leads I will ever need for testing systems and switches and any small electronic device I need to evaluate. Rarely do we need a multimeter, but when we do need one, having a good reliable unit with all the options needed to reach the access points for testing - this kit provides me with the right lead.

Does exactly what I was wanting and then some. Nice quality and good value for what I paid. Even has a nice carry case so I can keep it all together and organized. Definitely recommend for electrical DIY troubleshooting.

I'm really impressed. I purchased the set for the alligator clips for professional electrical work. These fit my Fluke meter and while they're not quite as good as the Fluke leads they're FAR better than expected. The attachments are well thought out: for instance the female ends have protective plastic covers so you cannot shock yourself on them while sliding on an attachment. They didn't have to do that but it's better. The case is surprisingly good

Both ends of the cables come with plastic end caps, to protect the plastic female ends; the plug ends (probe, alligator clips, and mini spring-loaded clips) are all decent quality; they plug into the common leads decently, with a solid connection; the nylon case is a tri-fold, with velcro sealing each of the three pouches, which hold the cables and plugs securely, and there is even a place to slide your business card into the outside of the case! The outside of the case uses velcro to seal, as well. Each pocket consists of clear vinyl, with a border of black nylon on all four sides; each pouch is identical in size. You can store the leads with your preferred ends attached, in the top-most pouch, and arrange the remaining ends how you prefer; the plastic end caps are nice, but I suspect I will leave mine in a pouch, unused, nearly all the time, as the pouch will offer enough protection for the ends by itself.I am genuinely surprised at the quality for the price. While not top of the line, they are far from the bottom! These would be excellent leads for a student to use in school, which they could then take with them onto the job site, to use until they wear them out. I bought them for home use, in the house, and in my garage for working on my cars and motorcycle, but I might pick up a second set for use at work, as well. I would not only recommend them to anyone, I may order a second set for myself! Cheers!

After observing that my Radio Shack test leads don't conduct electricity very well, I decided to upgrade to this set. Generally I have been happy with my purchase but the large number of small parts is a concern. Extech provides tiny dust caps for many of the conductive surfaces, which should improve their longevity. While these are a nice touch, they are likely to get lost. Additionally, the base cables are separate from the probes and clips, creating 12 separate parts. Adding the slim reach test probes, which would be purchased separately, there will be a total of 14 items in the case.It would take a longer time period to truly evaluate this product as the corrosion resistance of the surfaces along with the durability of the PVC cables will be the key indicators of value. Meanwhile, the cables and probes appear to be well made. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, the flared design of the main probes can be less than ideal in tight spaces. So, you might want to consider purchasing the Extech TL743 Slim Reach Test Probe Set at the same time. Note the term "set" in the case of the slim reach test probe set is a bit misleading because there are only two probes without case or cables. They will fit nicely in the existing case. The Extech TL809 Electronic Test Lead Kit is a solid value. There is some room for improvement, such as integrated caps, but this would most likely come with an increase in expense and some additional limitations. For no additional expense, Extech should include the slim leads in the base kit and make the flared probes optional. At this price point, this lead set is highly recommended.ProsNice carrying caseComes with probes, alligator clips and plunger mini-hooksDust caps on conductor surfacesConsToo many small partsFlared test probes too wide for some applications

I'm surprised this Extech TL809 Electronic Test Lead Kit (made in China) hasn't received a flood of positive reviews. This is good stuff, people. Even more so considering the currently low price. The kit comes with a thick tri-fold canvas pouch (black) with three clear vinyl interior pockets, all secured with Velcro-style hook & loop. Inside those pockets are modular components consisting of two roughly 50" (package says 42") lead extensions with banana plug-style connectors (any probe accepting a banana plug should fit these cables), four small caps (removed during use) to protect the lead connectors, two fine point test probes with surrounding banana plugs, two 1" insulated alligator clips, and two plunger-style mini-hooks with 6" cable (extra cable reduces weight on the small wire hooks). Each set of two are coded in red & black. Those lead extensions plug into the multimeter, while the various probes, clips, or hooks plug into the lead extensions. This modular design allows probe tips to be changed very easily, while also slightly reducing wear & tear on the multimeter (how often cables are plugged in).The tri-fold pouch, when folded, very roughly measures 7 1/4 wide, 4 1/2 tall, and 1 1/2 thick (depending on how much is stuffed inside). The pouch spreads out to almost 17" opened. There's easily enough room inside for the original multimeter probes (with small accessories you might have) and all items included with this kit. There's a windowed business card / ID card pocket on the back of the pouch.Everything, from the pouch to the leads, seems to be made very well. No poor sewing or loose threads on the pouch. Electrical connections (plugs) are smooth and firm. And the cables are every bit as thick & flexible as those included with my Fluke 115 multimeter. Of course, all fit and worked perfectly with that Fluke multimeter. Considering the price of Fluke probes and probe accessories (seemingly no better), this is an exceptional deal.
