Charged this battery one time and periodically checked its level by turning on the radio and checking the displayed voltage. The battery started to seem weak even though displaying 3.6V. Went to charge the battery today and it only gets very hot and never charges. Seems to be yet another poor quality battery from China.

Resurrected my old VX-1R ! It's a very tight fit in the radio and difficult to remove. It may help to sand down the raised letters on the side of the pack a little bit ? Otherwise, let's see how long the battery lasts.

Excellent quality, fits more snug than the original battery but that just means that it won’t pop out like the original battery does on my old vx-r1. Seems to hold a charge well but that’s just the first impression.

The battery was a replacement to be used in a hand-held radio transceiver (ham radio). The article purchased was exactly as described at a reasonable price and received in a timely manner. I would purchase from this source again should the need arise.

I recently rediscovered my Yaesu VX-1 in a box that hadn’t been opened since I moved several years ago. The battery wouldn’t charge so I went looking online and found this one offered and thought the price looked good. After reading the range of reviews I was a little uncertain but thought I’d take a chance and ordered one.It arrived a few days ago and I put it in the radio and plugged in the charger. A couple of hours later I took it off the charger and pressed the power button - the radio turned on and reported a fully charged battery. I had to download the operating manual to figure out how to work it and also do both a reset and an additional reprogramming procedure to get the automatic squelch to work properly but the radio is now working perfectly with the new battery.I haven’t timed it, but the radio runs several hours when I’m monitoring the local repeaters which is how I primarily use it. I have done a few transmissions on the half-watt setting and the battery seems to be doing a great job. It has gone through a couple of recharges now without any issues and I’m happy.One thing I’ve noted is that this battery is apparently very slightly larger than the original stock battery. Where the stock battery slide in and out of the radio on gravity alone, it drops in well enough but I have to give the radio a little shake to get it to come out. Not too hard, but it needs a tiny bit of encouragement. I don’t consider it a problem at all but thought it should be mentioned.Just before writing this review I ordered a second battery to have as a backup, so obviously I recommend it.

The Yaesu FT-1r is the hardest Yaesu model to find replacement batteries for. This one looks like the part, but it fits the radio much tighter than the OEM part; it's hard to get it back out of the radio. I haven't yet taken the time to figure out which surface I need to file or shave to make it fit better.That said, I've used it one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle, and it seems to provide the same performance as a new original battery.
