Pay attention to other reviews that speak to how hard this mat is. I already own a Nemo folding pad, but I wanted a wider pad to go with my Exped Dura 8R LW mattress so I ordered this Exped FlexMat. It is hard and plastic-e. You would absolutely never lay directly on this mattress and I don't think a sleeping bag would provide enough cushion for this mat, you will absolutely need to put an air mattress on top of the pad. I generally love Exped products but I cannot recommend this mat.

Zugegeben die Matte ist gut, keine Frage, aber das billige Plastik ist in der Produktion vielleicht 8 Euro wert. Wenn man es um 25 Euro verkauft, wär das voll ausreichend. Denn die Matte hat wenig Materialvolumen.

I use this under the mattress of my roof top tent since I am a side sleeper and needed extra padding.

Not the most comfortable but let's be honest a bit of foam is never going to be particularly comfortable. It is thicker than most though so it's one of the more comfortable versions of a closed cell mat. I'm happy overall and I'm confident that it will do the job adequately and protect any air mats people might use on top.

I ordered this product against my better judgement because of the mixed reviews. According to one review it was like lying on a bed of nails, to me it was no different than being directly on the ground. The design may have potential if made from a different material giving it better sponginess. I am only 180lbs, back and side sleeper. First time use, I mashed the mat flat and had a restless fish flopping no sleep. My hips ached and could only be in one position for a short period. Even my 11yr old granddaughter tested it and said it was just like lying on the floor. For a long term hike use, this product is a thumbs down for me. I will be returning this product.

Really wanted to like this pad, but it felt like I was lying on a bed of nails. It was easy to deal with, just not comfortable.

Average mat vs how Backpacker Magazine rated it re their Gold Award. You have to put a thin mat over it or you will be spreared by the cones shapes on the Mat.
