  • REPLACEMENT Radiator Coolant Hose : Radiator hoses carry coolant between the engine and the radiator. There is an inlet hose and an outlet hose. A water pump mounted on the engine pulls coolant from the radiator through the inlet hose. As coolant flows through the engine, it absorbs heat. The coolant is then pushed through the outlet hose into the radiator. The radiator dissipates the heat from the coolant before it’s pulled back into the engine again.

BAND STORY

1

What Is Radiator Hose?

Radiator hoses carry coolant between the engine and the radiator.

2

Why You Need Change?

Radiator hoses are important because they must keep coolant flowing between the radiator and the engine. At the same time, the hoses are subjected to extreme conditions, including:

  • High temperature
  • High pressure
  • Constant vibration
  • Harsh chemicals

3

When Should It Be Serviced?

There is no specific maintenance interval for radiator hoses. Newer compounds have improved the longevity of radiator hoses, but they won’t last forever. Most OEM radiator hoses will last 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coolant replacement on most vehicles is recommended at 100,000 miles, so it’s a good opportunity to change the hoses while the coolant is drained. It's still a good idea to have the hoses inspected at every oil change, or when there are signs of coolant loss.

4

How To Inspect A Radiator Hose?

It's critical to make sure the radiator hoses are in good condition. If one fails, the coolant will suddenly leak out, and the vehicle will be stranded on the side of the road. As a vehicle gains mileage, you should inspect a radiator hoses at every oil change. To inspect a radiator hose, do the following:

  1. With the engine cold, squeeze the hoses. They should feel firm, as they are reinforced. If you notice any kind of crunching sound, the interior of the hose is degrading, and it should be replaced. Also look for cracking on the exterior. Lastly, look for signs of leakage at the ends of the hose.
  2. With the engine warm, look for signs of swelling. You may notice this around the hose clamps, or you may notice a bulge somewhere along the hose.

Function Description:

  • Upper Radiator Coolant Hose Compatible with BMW 1 Series E82/E87/E88,3 Series E90/E91/E92/E93,X1 E84,Z4 E89 (N51/N52/N52N/N53)
  • Will NOT FIT N54 twin-turbocharged straight-six petrol engine. Please check Product Description below for vehicle compatibility.
  • The radiator hoses connect the radiator to the cylinder block and circulate coolant throughout the engine to remove excess heat. An upper hose connects the top of the radiator to the top of the engine. A lower hose connects the bottom of the radiator to the water pump of the engine, which keeps coolant flowing through the system. Since the radiator hoses are constantly exposed to extreme under-the-hood conditions, it will inevitably wear and develop tears and cracks. DINGTONG radiator hoses provide a reliable replacement solution for you.

I'm a DIY car guy with five decades of mechanic work - and I mean deep stuff, not just "I change my own oil". So, I'm kind of a stickler for quality hoses, which for me has traditionally meant OEM or OEM equivalent from a US or European manufacturer.Naturally, I ordered this one with some reservation. (I was doing a radiator replacement on my E91, which for me always includes routine replacement of radiator hoses.) However, after examining and installing the hose, I must say that the fit and finish of this piece was impeccable.Observations:The rubber feels solid and substantial - not thin, or gummy and cheap like some imported hoses. The rubber hose section was thermo-formed and was visually an exact replication of the OEM part. The plastic formed pieces were dimensionally exact, contained a quality looking o-ring and spring style retaining clip. The primarly hose sealing bands appear to be stainless steel, and are of the same thickness and general build appearance as OEM. In my installation, there were no leaks, and no "almost fits" issues. Everything went exactly as expected in the hose changeout and the fit was perfect and exact the first time.It is hard to predict the service life of a hose, but I see no reason to expect that this upper radiator hose will be in any way inferior to the OEM unit - unless there is some hidden materials shortcut or flaw that is simply not observable to the naked eye.I give this a cautious five star rating. Materials quality appears OEM excellent. Fit of plastic was perfect. The moldings were crisp, clean, without flashings or defect, and the details of build were exact in every visible and measurable specification.I will report back if I experience problems over the coming months. I am betting that this brand new imported hose is better than my ten year old but still functional OEM hose. I hope I'm right. We shall see.

Ordered to replace similar hose from another non-oem manufacturer that started leaking after a few months. The hose appears to be made well and gaskets/seals seem to be of good quality. I plan to install the hose over the weekend, but it will be a few months until I find out if this hose is better than the one it is replacing.Price-wise, it is good value, about 60% less expensive that OEM hose, however, we all know that a cheapskate pays twice.Update after 3 months of use: Hose is leaking. Bottom seal holds coolant when cold, but leaks when hot/under pressure. Rating dropped to 2 stars.
