Great sound. Big upgrade from standard speaker. Typical great quality from Eminence. There are cheaper alternatives, but they don't bring the kind of clarity and thickness this does.

The speaker is well built, tight sounding but too dark for my amp.Was tested in a Blackstar HT-1R, the amp has no tone controls other then the ISF. If it wasn't so dark it would have been a keeper. Ended up using an Eminence ALPHA-8A with great results. This speaker would be great in the correct amp.

This will end up being used with a small solid state modeling amp and couple foot pedals; will sit in the family room, fits under the coffee table, just a fun summer project combo.Ive used eminence over past decades but nothing close to this small (i mostly use 12" & 10"). Ive tried it in diff open back cabs and it sounds like you would expect for a true guitar speaker, but only if mounted to the right board; this speaker really wants to be mounted to dense hardwood or 1" ply in my opinion.I'm currently building yet another open back cab for it which will end up being 12" top and sides, 6.5" deep. I'll also going to put a board on the back just to see how it sounds in closed cabinet, although if that's what i was going to do permanently i would build it closer to 8-10" deep.I did hook this up to super sonic 22 to make sure it worked, and low end was surprising for how small it is; the cab i used to test is a sears xl10 (so not a good cab).I have no idea how this would sound for any purpose other than a guitar cab speaker. if you need something that is full-range then youre probably better off with a different speaker.I dont know if eminence does a factory burn-in on this speaker.

The Eminence Patriot 620H is a good speaker, but be aware that the break-in curve is steep, as it often is for hemp cones. The sound after just a few hours of playing is considerably sweeter and less stiff and boxy. Once it was broken in I did comparisons between open back, closed, and semi, and found that a closed back sounded best. This is because this speaker is quite mid-heavy, and if you play clean with an open back it can sound a little barky. Closing the back quiets the mids.Other reviewers describe this speaker as dark, but I disagree. I run it in a 2 x 6 configuration (two separate, identical pine cabs in stereo) and the Jensen P6V has noticeably deeper bass response. What the Jensen lacks, though, is a rich midrange, and that's where the Eminence shines. They're a great combination.

I lucked out and found a VOX VT20+ at a pawn shop for $89.00 so I jumped on it but there was a minor draw back, the stock speaker was (for some reason) only attached by 1 bolt and had a tear. I initially replaced it with the Celestion 815 and was impressed by the tone but as a metal player it just didn't have the break up and lacked the punch I was after so I decided to buy the Eminence 820H and after installation I was and still am extremely impressed by the warm and rich tone coming from my little VOX. If you're a metal guitarist then definitely look into this one.

Replaced the factory speaker in my battery powered Crate Taxi. Even though the speaker is sized at 8 inches, same as the original speaker, the metal housing on the Eminence is built somewhat sturdier and is just a tiny bit larger in diameter. So I needed to route out the recess in the front mounting board just slightly so the new speaker would fit properly into the recess. My style is "clean" and the hemp cone sound is not disappointing in the least with plenty of volume for outdoor work. It was well worth the effort and I would definitely do this again.

I have a Line6 amplifi 75 and it is somewhat "FRFR" meaning that the speakers are a tweeter and a PA style woofer. I couldn't find the tones that I was looking for, the amp has a vast array of amp models for all taste. But I'm a Metal Guy and I wanted that extra Gain and Chrispy low end sound that somewhat hard to dail in. Read the Eminence specs on this speaker and went for it. OMG, I could not believe how much more tone I got. It really does sound more fuller and rich sound. Some 8 inch amp cabinets sound like a Buzz Box but not this one. It gave the line6 amplifi a wall of sound. If you are a metal head and have a line6 amplifi, switch out that stock speaker and really hear the difference.

Amazing honestly. I replaced the stock speaker out of an old Peavey Rage 108 (not the 158). Installing was a pain in the ass, but not because of the speaker, but because of how I had to take that whole amp apart just to remove the old one. Once I finally got everything thing back together, I soon realized it was worth the trouble. Made this old amp come to life. Full and warm sounding... something I never thought would come out of an old solid state practice amp. Just incredible.

I have a '56 Fender Champ, the old tweed model, and the speaker was just inadequate. I ordered this speaker, and was chagrined to find out it was NOT a direct replacement. After a little research, I took the baffle board out and sent it to the fine folks at Mojo. The Mojo crew did their Mojo thing, and built a new baffle board with the speaker studs precisely fitting this speaker. After some FedEx misadventure, I put it together, and holy moley, what a great little speaker. I broke it in for about 20 or so hours, using my iPod as the source, and letting it play evenings after I got home from work. At the end of the break in period, I was just pleased as punch with the sound. The Fender Champ always had as its weak spot the speaker, and this remedied the issue. In '56, the amp cost $49; the book on it now is $1200-1400. Keith Richards was among the first to use one of these in many seminal Stones recordings. Just a great speaker for a great little amp.
