We were building a table from redwood 2x4s and 4x4s, and this tool made installing the hanger bolts into the legs a breeze. Highly recommended.

Stripped out the first hanger screw I drove, even using torque control to ensure speed dialed down.I found it easier to use two bolts to drive against. A lot cheaper, and didn’t strip the hanger screws

This driver has no internal depth stop to prevent the hanger bolt from moving past the end of the internal threads. The result is, every hanger bolt will have the threads all galled up on the end, making it impossible to thread on a nut unless you clean the threads with a die. This driver can probably be fixed by placing a short length of steel rod into it to prevent the hanger bolt from being twisted into the driver past the threaded portion... However, this is something the manufacturer should have thought of... especially considering the ridiculously high price. I bought this to replace an IVY hanger bolt driver, because Amazon shipped me a 1/4-20 driver that was labeled as a 3/8-16... which was half the price and the IVY driver does have an internal dept stop. I couldn't reorder the IVY, because I had no way of knowing if I'd receive the correct part. The IVY hanger bolt driver is a better choice if you're lucky enough to receive the correct part

I had some 3/8"-16 hanger bolts. This is the bit you'll need to drive them. The materials seem strong enough to stand up to a lot of use. The thing with hanger bolts it that you'll inevitably shear off some threads or otherwise go too deep because there's no real gap between the end of the wood screw and the start of the machine screw / bolt. I haven't broken this bit yet, so it must be pretty good.

Expensive for such a simple tool, but was so thankful to have it. Drove the hanger bolts in straight with no effort.

Had to drive a 6" hanger bolt tightly into a piano leg. Beats the heck out of running a nut down to the end of the thread and using a box wrench.
