I read a lot of reviews trying to figure out sizing. I intend to wear these with jeans and khakis so I wanted to be able to wear actual socks and not hose or thin dress socks. I'm wearing medium weight athletic socks.I wear 8.5 in women's so I ordered 9.5. Perfect...added a littlw width ans length. I do NOT like my toes to touch the end of shoes so picking the whole size bigger works great.These have a nice rubber bottom with good grip. They are average weight for a leather shoe...maybe a little lighter than some. The flat bottom is also great for not tracking dirt around. The insole seems comfortable.They seem to be pretty much what we wore in the 70s and 80s. The only thing I don't like is the round laces and I don't think the lace holes are big enough for flat strings. We didn't have round laces in ours back then and I can live with it but am not crazy about it.These seem softer than what we had so there's really no break in. They're comfortable immediately.If you want nostalgia or just to wear something totally different than everyone else is wearing...this is it. You will get attention so be prepared to answer people's questions when you rock these in public.

This type of shoe is usually ordered for a special occasion but I have started seeing them worn for everyday again. This shoe is really well made. It is stitched leather while comparable priced shoes are imitation leather. Sizing was really accurate. Great value.

These saddle shoes threw me back to first grade in the sixties. All I need now is anklet socks with a little lacey fringe around the edge. So cute I can't stand it. All nice soft leather, after you wear them a day or two you break them in, it's like you have no shoes on at all. Kind of cute, and kind of comfy in any situation. Love these!!!! Thank you Amazon! ;D

I gave three stars because the shoes were worn as evidenced by packaging and small scuff marks on right shoe. I found a hair in the left shoe.I paid for new shoes not previously worn shoes.
