Honestly I'm pretty surprised by this purchase. Sure the extra battery life is great and its damn near identical to the Canon Version of the same thing.... BUT what I like most about this Battery Grip is the GRIP itself. That extra pinky finger hold makes a massive difference when shooting and my camera just feels right. Any photographer/videographer would realize that you can't put a price on that.- Super well built- Buttons and Scroll wheel make portrait shots easier- Battery is literally twice as long- Adds a comfortable weight to the body- People with smaller hands might not enjoy its bulkyness

The castle doesn't feel as tight as the Canon grip, but for less than 1/2 the price, I can live with this. Worst case if it breaks, I can buy another grip and still be saving money.

Great value. I bought this based on Internet reviews that said it was virtually identical to the canon unit. As far as I can tell it is. Been using it for a month or so now and it works perfectly and has a high quality feel. Highly recommended.Update: The grip is still holding up and preform great and I wanted to add that I have about a dozen cycles on the batteries now and they are also working and performing great. The batteries give significantly longer use per charge than the canon batteries, even when using only one at a time. While using the two batteries in the grip I am getting 3000+ shots per charge cycle.I highly recommend this product, it's an incredible value.

November 20, 2016 - First impressionsI chose to order this BG-E16 "replacement" because it appeared to be identical to the original, and because it came with two batteries for the price of a little more than a single Canon battery. Now that I have it, I can see that it is, indeed, nearly identical to the original and the two batteries seem to be working very well. I've had bad experience with previous Canon-replacement batteries (from a different manufacturer), so this review will be updated as necessary, but even if the two batteries fail, the grip seems an excellent product, at a fraction of the price of the original. There are cheaper BG-E16 "replacement" grips, but they lack the AF/multifunction "joystick", and they seem to have a different design, and I've had bad experiences with such "experiments" (the CE Compass version of BG-E8 for my old T3i would not operate properly with a DC power supply).So far this seems to be an excellent alternative to the original Canon BG-E16.
