I stumbled upon these strings by accident. The sound is terrific. A total different sound. Much louder. Make sure you follow directions how to install or your strings will go dead.

Put a new set of strings on my Seagull S6 and the guitar came to live! Warm, smooth sound. Don't know yet how the sound will last but hey...

After sampling the usual suspects and these DR Rare strings, DR wins by 2 lengths. They have a fineness with a punch. It's almost a chorus effect when you strum cords and plucking these strings facilitates a fluid, melodic blend. Only Elixir polywebs compete, for my tastes anyway.

I've been stringing all my guitars with DR strings since I was a teenager. They're well made in the USA, they sound great, they're very affordable, have a very short settle-in time, and they last forever. I rarely ever break a DR string. They go dull well before a string breaks. These are very bright, boomy strings right out of the gate but after a day or two, they settle in and mellow out a bit, remaining bright but not too bright. The break-in time is also another notable thing with these. Once they're on and tuned to pitch, that's where they stay as long as you have good tuners. I remember tuning other strings and starting to play and having to stop a couple minutes in to re-tune a few times that day because they slipped out from stretching. Not these. These stay right where you set them the first time. I love DR strings. They're very underrated. Give them a try.

I’m a long time DR string player but this was my first set of acoustic DRs. They feel fantastic and sound absolutely stunning. They might be the best uncoated acoustic string I’ve played. Been strung up for about a month and still sound great.

I’ve been using DR strings for a few years now, but I wanted to compare them to some other brands. I bought a 3 pack of D’Addario light 12-53 phosphor bronze and put them on my Taylor 410. I also put a new set of these DR Rare light 12-54 on my Taylor 110-GB. Both guitars sounded loud and bright, but the DRs had more mids & lows than the D’Addarios, despite being on the cheaper guitar. Guess I’ll stick with the DR Rare strings for now.

DR strings feel great. They are easy to play especially for finger picking and bending. They stay in tune and sound rich.

When they say there's more string, they mean it. Huge tension difference compared to, say, equivalent D'Addarios (which felt like butter when I put them back on). Except that didn't help my smaller guitar's soundboard, or my fingertips (20 years of callusing). Sometimes I felt like I had put on Mediums or bigger lol. Despite that, smooth easy bends as advertised, smooth sliding, and a nice sound, but the fatiguing in my fingertips equaled with a similar sound output to easier playing strings resulted in me taking these off. I'm thinking if you have a jumbo or dreadnought, these would be amazing. Glad I tried them, though. I wouldn't be adverse to trying another style string from this company. Probably 80/20s next time, as I seem to prefer that sound for my guitar. Try them if you like phosphors and the gauge!
