If you have an Audi 2.0t this is a must have when replacing the water pump belt to loosen the pulley to get the belt off.

This wrench works to remove the drive pulley bolt. I have a 2010 Passat with an EA888 gen 1 engine. I tried a bunch of things to remove the bolt and nothing worked until I got this wrench. The collar on this wrench's box end is skinny and deep enough that it fits in the crevice surrounding the bolt head to get a full grip.The drive pulley bolt on gen 1 engines is reverse thread (aka left hand thread). That means you turn it clockwise to remove it. If you are not confident in your skills you may want skip removing the bolt to replace the water pump belt and instead reuse the old belt. Many diy videos tell you to go buy some other tools from your local warehouse if you own an Audi/VW and have to do your water pump which you know you will, do yourself a favor and get yourself this gem of a tool last thing you want to do is have the belt snap and have to go back in and do this part of the job and take everything apart as well order this and save yourself time and money looking for the right tool.

A lot of people struggle with the EA888 water pump and try to modify or misuse existing tools. I found that a Mac Tools PrecisionTorque combination wrench was the best between all my tool truck wrenches, but it still wasn't great. This wrench, while appearing and feeling like the cheapest quality tool you'd find for sale anywhere, fits beautifully and works perfectly. Is it worth the ridiculous price? That depends on how many EA888 water pumps you do. I do a few a week, so it's already paid for itself over and over in time saved. For someone who's only ever going to do one or two, probably not. You can get away with using a normal wrench and not have to worry about it too much. But for anyone who does buy it, just keep it separate from the rest of your wrenches so it doesn't get used on something that isn't a water pump, because I'm sure it wouldn't last.
