Although I wanted and needed this to work it didn’t exceed my expectations as the numbers fluctuated so much and couldn’t figure out the right time to use although it had instructions didn’t seem to work properly so I sent it back.

I ordered the Proshine Dog Ovulation Detector & Canine Pregnancy Test Kit because I decided to breed my French Bulldog. First, I discovered that my dog would not tolerate the insertion process...END OF STORY. I was impressed by the quality construction and the well documented instructions. I am certain that this instrument will be most valuable when breeding most canine varieties other than French Bulldogs. I discovered that they can only breed by artificial insemination and deliver by C-section. Oh well, maybe I should raise Pit Bulls.

When I received this product, I was expecting a non-invasive, at-home kit for home use, but I found that this kit is more of a vet-grade application. I did not like this kit because of the invasiveness and the experience needed for use. First, the ovulation detector is inserted to take a temperature. I am very uncomfortable doing this on my own with my female dog. Second, the one pregnancy test that you receive comes with a needle, and you have to draw blood. I have no experience doing this and would not feel comfortable with the procedure. In short, I am sure someone may get some use out of this system, but it is not for me. I will take my female dog to the vet for any questions or concerns regarding ovulation or pregnancy.

The device appears to function, though my dog is not in heat. However, it did not come with the pregnancy test kit. I will revise my rating higher if the company provides the missing test kit.Update: Proshine has made good for the product received. They sent me a new Detector with a pregnancy test. They also did not require me to return the first one. I gave that one to a fellow breeder. We are hoping this improves our conception percentages. Very nice people to work with!
