I have a DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone and really like it. What I like a lot about it is the ability to connect your Smartphone to the controller and see what the camera sees and be able to perform various functions from the smart device. The Phantom comes with a small plastic arm and phone holder that holds my iPhone 6 plus pretty well but it won’t hold anything larger (i.e. tablet). I am getting older and even the large iPhone 6 plus is getting hard for me to see some of the smaller details on the screen. So I wanted to use my Ipad mini 2 tablet but the stock holder is too small. I did some research and found many users were using the DJI Inspire 1 drones holder on their Phantom 3 standard controllers. It does require some modifications but I did it in about 30-45 minutes (check YouTube for how to do it details). You could also use the holder from the Phantom 3 Pro or Advanced models as they are exactly like the inspire holder except they are made of plastic. I went with the Inspire version because it is made out of aluminum and much more sturdy. The Inspire mount holds my Ipad mini very securely and is solid with very little vibration/flex. A good modification for flyers that want to use a larger tablet. There are other aftermarket holders out there that are straight bolt on but they attach using the stock mounting style or mount to the lanyard mount only and don't provide the same support as the Inspire mount provides. Just remember this is not a straight bolt on and requires you to open your stock controller and modify it (drill one hole).

Drilling a hole in the transmitter was not pleasant. There are no real instructions guiding you as to where to drill the hole so of course the hole I drilled did not align with the bracket's front threaded tab. So I had to ream the hole off-centered until I got it to finally thread into the case. Wasn't that challenging but more frustrating. When I was done, I added plenty of glue inside to make sure it stays put since the hole was larger and elongated than what was required. On the positive side, the mount holds my iPad Air 2 without worry. It is great. Nice big screen to look at with the Phantom 3.

This is a must, add on for using the camera view. I installed it with the Phantom 3 Standard Remote. There are enough reviews and you-tube videos how to install this product.Mark the spot to drill the hole as they explain in the videos. Take time to be sure this is correct. This plastic is strong/thick enough to mount it buy drilling a hole and threading the hole. This is the Cleanest and most professional way.I used this exact set size available through Amazon.Vermont American 21666 Size 1/4 x 20 NC Tap No 7 Drill Bit Combo. You will need a Tap handle to turn the tap also. (Using the Tap -only screw it in a few threads to get the threads started.)Practice on another plastic object about the same thickness several times.

Be aware this is not the Aluminum version from the Inspire 1, this is the cheaper plastic part from the Phantoms. As other reviewers have mentioned, they placed a sticker that calls it an Inspire part over the existing DJI factory Phantom sticker. This is the second one I received (I returned the first one).

You have to get this if you want to use anything bigger than a smartphone for your drone display. The Phantom 3 device holder has a plastic base/mount and will wobble and flex annoyingly if you use a larger device like an iPad Air 2. This is the EXACT same part except the plastic base/mount is made of aluminum and does not have any play when holding a large device. Get it if you know what I'm talking about - it woks perfectly!

I bought this for a Phantom 3 standard. If you have a standard you must be aware this is not made for the standard. A couple of the questions on the review say that it does fit a standard and it will, but it takes a modification. Also in the questions it says it will hold a ipad 4 (9")... it does not. I will have to purchase an extension for it. I still gave it 4 stars because it is very well built and the advertiser does not say it fits a standard. It is working for me with the modifications for my iphone 6 and ipad mini.

I was told this would work with a full size Ipad, then when I get it, they tell me I have to buy another piece to make it work? Really? However, a nice replacement if you break your stock P3 bracket.

I found that this item works perfectly for the P3S if you are wiling to make a modification to your RC. Requires an Allstar Performance Threaded Nut Insert ALL18548 and a drilled hole. You can Google installation instructions at several sites. This makes an extremely sturdy mount and platform. I highly recommend.Mark the hole to be drilled as follow: Mount the holder to the lanyard mount and swing the holder down until the rod touches the the surface of the RC. Now take a pencil or marker and make a mark at the center of the back side of the rod. This is the center of the 3/8" hole to be drilled. Be sure to take the case apart before drilling. Some trimming of the case will have to be done with side snippers.
