I am 62 years old. After a life in the trades and now living off grid and working harder than ever, I finally found the perfect work pants. I have tried every brand known to man. These have the perfect combination of flexibility, strength, fit, and even stain resistance. Paired with my trusty Red Wings. I feel prepared to take on any task, whether it be sliding under my truck, digging a ditch, or felling a tree. Just brush them off and move on to the next job .I know this sounds a little over the top, but I'm really that happy with the choice.

I have almost always worn Carhartt over the last 10 years. But these were less expensive, so I figure I'd give them a try. Although they are very comfortable, they are much lighter duty than I thought they'd be. Because they are so light duty, the double knee doesn't really help. However, if you want a lighter duty pair of pants that will probably keep you cooler than the heavy duty ones in the summertime. I would still definitely recommend them.

Despite the alarming reviews, I decided to buy these trousers and try them out, mainly because of the price ($30 as of 29 August 2024). In order to make this review more specific, the label in the trousers say they have been manufactured in Oct/22, so I am reviewing that batch.I received them and first impressions I liked the colour, then I immediately noticed the fabric is a bit thin and flimsy, but since I am trying to use them for mountain biking and not for yard work, mechanic, HVAC etc, I figured they might last a little. My rational is that if they last 10 months, I will have only spent $3 a month, makes sense. After having tried them on, I realised they look, well, like a $30 pair of trousers, I look like a blue collar man in them, so I would NOT pay a dime over $30 for these, and depending on the durability (about which I am planning to update) I might want to pay even less. Furthermore and to make things worse, when you are in direct sunlight, the polyester threads shine and show tiny bright spots, making it look even cheaper... not a good look, so I am deducting a star from my original 4 stars because of that. The fit is good, nothing special, they do stretch a little, the front pockets are a little too towards the the zipper so they feel unnatural. but nothing to really discount them for. The overall feel wearing them is not great, but decent, they could do with some refinement in the cut.The stitching is perhaps the best part of the trousers, solid and abundant. The finishing of the stitching is poor though, with lose threads in 5 different parts, but nothing a pair of scissors cannot deal with. The zipper is YKK brass, but in the low end the company produces, but still very good. The coin pocket is ridiculously deep, I keep a buck 110 knife in there, and still feel I need two inches extra in my fingers to retrieve it, so I have to push the knife from the bottom up. This is not a bad thing as I believe I wont lose the knife from that pocket (specially if a fall off my bike in the woods) but I understand that some people might find it annoying.I took them riding for about two hours, and the fabric, although thin isn't breathable, which gets you very hot and wet as it doesn't allow for much sweat evaporation, bad thing in the summer, potentially good thing in the winter (all to be seen). Interesting enough, they dry fairly quick once you take them off, that makes me believe they have less cotton than what they advertise. The overall experience riding was okay, they stretch but not that much, they don't deliver bike performance, but they are not terrible either (they are not designed for biking, so I cannot fault them for that). My biggest concern is their durability (hence the four stars, they don't inspire much confidence). I do truly hope they will last though as they feel good and they come at a reasonable price ($30).I endevour to keep updating as my experience with them progresses....UPDATE 1 - 13 Sept 2024After having worn these trousers almost exclusively for exactly two weeks, I noticed that obviously they become more comfortable as they break in, but still the fabric doesnt become very supple. But the most important thing is that it does appear that some of the reviews are right, a crease has began to form on top of the knee protection and I can see that with some time, the friction and dirt will weaken an already weak fabric and will tear....

Flexible, comfortable, tough fabric. I bought another pair and will buy again. I’m getting rid of all my work pants that don’t have any give to them, these are so much better!

The Dickies Men's Tough Max Duck Double Knee Pant is hands-down the best work pant I’ve tried. The fabric is durable yet flexible, which is ideal for tough jobs that require a lot of bending and moving around. The double knee design is perfect for added protection and durability, especially for work that involves kneeling or handling rough surfaces. The fit is comfortable without being too baggy, and the reinforced stitching makes them feel incredibly sturdy. They also have enough pockets for all my tools, making them practical as well as tough. If you’re looking for pants that can handle hard work and stay comfortable all day, these are a fantastic choice. Highly recommend for anyone in need of heavy-duty workwear!

Fitted perfectly for waist size and inner leg. Well made quality product and I prefer these over other brands including premium US work brand at quadruple the cost. Good Fit ; Well Made ; Quality Garment almost too good to wear for work. My previous pair of Dickies work trousers are over seven years old and still very much in good condition so I am confident that these will last just as long..

SIZING: I'm 5'2", 120 lbs, male who ears 31x29 pants. These 30" stretch well enough to fit my 31" waist quite well. The 30" length is excellent out of the package and stays excellent after 10 warm-water washings so far.COMPARED: I've worn Carhartt for my work as a builder for several years, but they are far to bulky with a waist that is far too tight as a 30" and too big as a 31," a crotch that almost reaches my knees and a 30" inseam is actually 34" even after 100 washings. Double-front Carhartts, however, lasts me 2-3 years. After nearly a month, I think I can get 1 to 1 1/2 years per pair from these Dickies pants. To me, the cost on sale with correct sizing (allowing more versatility) is more valuable to me than the durability of Carhartt.SUMMARY: I'll be buying two pairs of these every 18 months instead of Carhartt. Great pants.
