Hiking Backpack
The Futura is designed for longer day hikes and multi-day hikes where high comfort and ease of use are the focus. With the new mesh of the Aircomfort back system is provided for maximum ventilation. This means up to 25% less sweating and therefore a higher performance. The movable ActiveFit shoulder straps and the ergonomic hip fins (with pull-forward adjustment) also ensure pleasant wearing comfort. In addition, the separate bottom compartment creates for additional organization options in the backpack.

Deuter Aircomfort
This new mesh back system unites maximum ventilation, ergonomic comfort and lightness. The innovative construction of the hip fin section and the fluid transition to the back mesh enclose the carrier and ensure a comfortable fit. The flexible frame construction made of a permanently elastic and break-proof spring steel gives the Aircomfort back mesh its stable tension. It creates a reliable ventilation space between the backpack and the back, through which moist air can freely evaporate. With the patented Deuter 3-side ventilation system, the wearer sweats up to 25%* less. The high level of flexibility of the whole construction provides the wearer with freedom of movement.

There is a considerable design flaw. Namely, the bottom of the backpack does not have enough padding and presses uncomfortably against the body. This becomes an issue only with a heavy load; I used а 20 pound dumbbell for a test. A related problem is that the padding at the bottom does not curve away from the body (for example, compare to the excellent design of Deuter Aircontact backpacks). In fact, Futura 32 curves slightly towards the body at the bottom, resulting in an uncomfortable pressure point with a heavy load. I bought Futura 36 Pro instead, and I like its design.An update: After trying Deuter Futura 36 Pro, I returned it and bought Deuter Trail 36 Pro instead. The reason is that with a heavy load the curved form of all Futura backpacks leads to the load being too far away from the back, resulting in a poor balance and a bad distribution of weight. I guess either one can enjoy great ventilation but poor weight distribution, or less ventilation but better fit. I intend to use Trail 36 Pro for walks in a city/suburb. For a real one day or few days hikes my first choice is Aircontact Lite 40+10 (hard to find in the US but easy in Europe). Aircontact Lite 50+10 is another option.

Ho impiegato parecchio tempo e almeno 5 altri zaini (ognuno di marca e capacità diversa) per arrivare finalmente alla soluzione che ricercavo da tempo. Indossato ieri per la prima volta, senza modificare nulla di spallacci e fianchi, a parità di peso del precedente (circa 8 kg. acqua compresa), sono riuscito a trascinarmelo dietro per tutto il giorno in giro per le prealpi varesine senza avvertire disturbo di alcun genere ed anzi avendo ancora intatto il desiderio di prolungare ancora la scarpinata. Tutto ciò a conferma della bontà del "passa parola" e delle recensioni. Qualità costruttiva da manuale.
