Went to a mechanic about my A/C in a 1996 4Runner SR5 and they said it's the expansion valve and it would be ~$600 (of course, only AFTER they charged me for the refrigerant refill).Did some research on the 4runner forums and apparently Denso is the OEM part and the expansion valve is the most common fail point on 4Runner A/C systems. $30 and a few hours of time to save $570? Sign me up.I'm fairly new to working on vehicles so the whole job took me ~4 hours, but that's really not that bad considering the cost savings. Just followed YouTube videos and 4runner blog directions and got this guy installed. Refilled the refrigerant. Boom, cold air.I'm writing this ~4 months after installing it. Cranked the A/C all the way through a hot summer and this seems to be holding up great. Still blowing super cold.

Works. Don't over tighten because if you break an o-ring it will leak refrigerant on the evaporator core and it may leak into your car.

Exact fit and replacement for the OE expansion valve on my 2000 Toyota 4Runner Limited (3.4L and 4WD). This is an outstanding product and highly recommended. Price is far lower than purchasing the same product from the Toyota Dealer!!! Quick delivery and arrived with complete instructions for installation. For people replacing their expansion valve, it is not too difficult on the 3rd generation Toyota 4Runner. Consult online or find a FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your vehicle and it is a snap!
