I'm always looking for scissors when I open mail or cardboard boxes like the ones I get from Amazon. I decided to get a letter opener but wanted one that is unique AND sturdy. This Denix Richard The Lionheart Letter Opener fit the bill for me. It nice looking and well made. It works great for opening letters. It is strong enough for handling boxes. However I sharpened one side of the blade to help out with tough boxes. Reasonable price, nice appearance and durable/strong --> I'm happy.

I could not be more in love with this. It’s heavy and feels expensive, and the detail is remarkable; the braids and cross and lion heads carved into the hilt are beautiful. Coolest letter opener I’ve ever seen!

i have been using this letter opener for quite some time now & have thoroughly enjoyed the look & weight. as others have said, it could be sharper (like the generic letter openers available from any office supply retailer), but there's likely some good reasons it's not - the nice weight mentioned comes largely from the thickness of the blade rather than just the hilt, which adds to durability and as such the likely life of the product, but makes standard semi-sharp edges as in other letter openers impractical; the finish appears to be a chrome-like plating which adds to the overall look, but attempted sharpening would likely remove, damage, or otherwise scar/mar the finish and thus destroy the look we purchasers wanted to begin with. if you're considering buying it for looks but want functionality, buy the available display stand & a standard letter opener. for the rest of us, enjoy as-is but occasionally wipe down the blade with adhesive remover to compensate for the inevitable goop that accumulates from various types of correspondence opened to maintain the blade's original luster.
