I've been using a Denis Wick 1C Heavytop mouthpiece for years and I am very pleased with it overall. However, it is sometimes slightly difficult to play in the upper register with the 1C - especially during warm weather or when my chops are getting a tad tired. I have read that the 3C can improve upper register response, provide a more focused sound and brighten-up your tone quality a bit. So, I thought I'd give it try and ordered this Denis Wick 3C mouthpiece. I just received it today and gave it a good workout. So far, I like everything about it. I have zero complaints based on my first 1 hour playing and comparing against my 1C. It seems to do everything I've read a 3C trumpet mouthpiece should do for ones playing dynamic and trumpet sound quality - and the price was right! The difference between the 1C and the 3C is pronounced, and I look forward to continuing my comparison evaluation. I think I will likely end up using my 1C for general playing, and switch to the 3C when I will be playing music where more projection and a slightly brighter trumpet tone is desirable. I am very pleased with my purchase.Update: 11/30/24Well, yesterday, I happened to notice that this Denis Wick American Classic 3C mouthpiece, does not seat in my trumpet's receiver firmly and completely, as it ought to. There is a slight but discernable gap/very slight movement when the mouthpiece should be nicely and thoroughly seated. I have placed all sorts of other MP's in my trumpet, and they all seated as they should - even a very cheap Chinese MP I bought in my very early trumpet days. So, I'm wondering why this particular Denis Wick MP left the factory. Don't they check for proper seating? I'm not suggesting that this is a huge problem as the MP seems to play well. However, it does raise questions about this particular line of MP's and quality control. I'm not sure this MP won't fall out if the horn is inverted someday, in some future scenario e.g. cool weather. I wonder if perhaps this particular batch of MP's all have this issue? I don't have this issue with my Denis Wick Heavytop 1C or, as I mentioned, any of several other mouthpieces I've used - including my Bach Megatone 1C. Not sure what I'm going to do with this situation? :/

I bought this mouthpiece for my son. The mouthpiece fit into his trumpet without having to use duct tape or running to the hardware store for some sort of additional attachment. When he blew into the mouthpiece songs came out of the other end of the trumpet. This was a pleasant surprise since there was no mention of songs being included.I would however recommend that they tune the mouthpiece better in the future as some of the notes that came out seemed a bit sharp. Overall though I can't complain. I wish you all a pleasant day.

This is the second time that I have purchased this mouthpiece and I love it. The reason why I am giving it four stars though is that the scale system that Denis Wick uses is not the same as other standard manufacturers (like Bach, Yamaha, Schilke, Monette etc.) which makes it hard to buy it without trying it first. Otherwise this is a great mouthpiece that helps create a centered tone on the warmer side.

I am a returning trumpet player after taking a few years off to focus on other instruments. I was having trouble with my sound and hitting notes consistently. I bought a Wick mouthpiece as they came highly recommended on a couple forums. Man, this mouthpiece has made a world of difference on my redeveloping chops. Low notes are deep, rich, and easy to play. Higher notes are easier and consistent. Great mouthpiece that beats its Bach equivalent in every way.
