I've used many metal cutting or grinding tools and this exceeded all of my expectations. This saw allows you to manipulate metal in a similar fashion to wood with a wood miter saw. I made a tractor subframe to support a 3 point backhoe. Pair this with a Hobart EZ Welder and the metal world is your oyster. I cut a piece of 2 X 3 X 1/4 tube steel at a 177 degree angle over 6 inches! I don't know what other tool can do that at this price range. I bought a warehouse deal and it was brand new for $30 less. I also like that the blades are so cheap compared to my DeWalt 14" metal carbide saw. Great buy.

I am generally a woodworker, but I needed to cut some metal to repair my lumber rack. My ancient cutoff saw is a noisy and not-so-accurate cutting device, so I ordered this saw. It was ordered on a Wednesday and was delivered by noon on Friday. After reading the reviews, I knew it didn't come with blades (really Milwaukee not even one crappy blade?) so I had a couple 10/14 blades on hand and put it to work right away. As many have noted these saws are beasts. It cut through 13 Ga. (3/32") and 1/4" plate steel like butter. With any tool you should take the time to make practice cuts prior to actually using it for important work and this saw is no exception. My first few cuts gave me flashbacks to my teenage years. The cuts, while fast, were all over the place. The saw felt awkward in my hands but well balanced. But after a few cuts and about 15 minutes, I had the feel of the saw and how to manipulate it.FIT AND FINISH (5 stars) plus small rantMilwaukee has sourced this machine's manufacturing to China. Many people complain about Asian manufacturing, the poor quality this imparts isn't the fault of the "foreign workers" its the fault of the companies and the specifications they set to shave costs. Well on this tool Milwaukee has kept their standards up because the materials, fit and finish are excellent. The black plasticized rubber covers are flexible but stout. While I haven't done a 25' drop test on it, they have survived falling off my 42" tall workbench onto concrete.I've only had this tool for a week, but if any of my other Milwaukee tools are any indication, I will have this tool in my inventory for many years.USEABILITY (5 stars)The manual is mostly filled with the standard safety information with about 1.5 pages of information about the pieces-parts and how to change the blades. The blades are very easy to change (it takes about 30-45 seconds) and the tracking is amazing... just plug and play! This saw is the simple version — two speeds: Hi and Low. No lights, no bells, no whistles. I may come to regret the decision of not getting the variable speed lighted version, but for now it meets all of my needs.If you have never used handheld power tools before, know that you will have a learning curve with this saw. If you are a user of handheld power tools, you should be able to make a few practice cuts, then start letting the chips fly.

For the most part this saw is a go to tool. It is built with solid design that should last me for many more jobs to come. The blades are easy to replace and tighten. Built in safety switch lets me have easy of mind when my wife borrows it for her projects.

Band saw arrived in outstanding condition, Does not come with a saw blade but I purchased one at Home Depot today .Easy to use saw operates just fine. 5 stars are deserving for this fine piece of equipment..

Great tool, very powerful, does everything I need it to do. It's a little heavy due to the excellent quality and takes two strong hands to use, but the weight of the tool also helps steady it and helps saw through metal. I used an older model of the Milwaukee portable band saw, which did not have the adjustable fence, or the deep cut set up, and I like both of these features much better than the older model I had used before. Plenty of power.

Idler wheel had play which allowed blade to wobble. Went through about 6 blades stripping off teeth before finding out the idler wheel was the problem. Milwaukee assisted and returned back to Amazon for refund. I purchased the variable speed one and have had no problems. Definitely recommend variable speed over the two speed version.

This saw worked great. Didn't mess up thread ends, great power, easy to use. One handed use with the aid of a table/floor is easy as well.
