Product Description

Coolerguys Three 120mm Preset Thermostat Cabinet Fan Kit Designed for mounting on any side of a cabinet by cutting a rectangular hole. Insert completed cooler assembly in hole and attach to cabinet with appropriate screws. Thermostat controlled system to turn on [at 88° F] and off [at 81° F] only when needed. Total unit has a 0.28A operating draw. We leave our kits un-assembled so that our customers are able to modify them to be either intake or exhaust systems. Our fans blow air towards the side with the logo: simply screw it into your bracket the direction you want the air to flow.

We normally recommend getting our 120mm systems if space permits due to optimal noise, airflow, and lifespan ratios. Fan upgrades for higher CFM are also available.

I have installed the fan unit into a flight case for my DJM-900SRT mixer, it works a dream, it keeps my laptop nice and cool, so I can do a 6 hour set and the laptop is always kept cool, when the fans are running they are very quite.

Package came with good directions and was easy to install and get working. Fans are quiet the thermal sensor does work well but i have just plugged it into the back of my stereo and just trigger it when turning on my receiver instead. So if you are using this for a receiver you might not need the thermal controller I could have gotten away with the cabcool 802 if I would have thought of that :). Plus receivers heat up so fast it only buys you a minute if that.Cons: Pricey. fans feel like cheap case fans you buy 4 for 15 dollars in a value pack.Pros: Does the job well and you don't have to hunt for all the pieces to make this work or cut a mold from plastic. Coolerguys have done a great job of doing all of that for you and packaging it nicely with good instructions. Fan's are quiet.Great product would buy this for a large cabinet but for the purpose i needed it for just keeping my receiver cool in the shelf and stop it from over heating I should have gone with the CabCool 802 80mm model without thermal controller. Know your application if you really need Thermal controller + 120mm fans.

Okay let's just get this out of the way: it works, and it's fairly silent. This is a quality product which I recommend. Now for more detailed thoughts: what you're buying here is an all-in-one kit for putting a couple of fans and a simple sensor in your cabinet. It includes all the hardware (even the mounting wood screws.) The sensor control unit has room for 4 fan inputs, so you could theoretically expand this system to push more air out or buy another couple of fans as an intake. The controller accepts a standard 3 pin input so any fan should do.The kit is really easy to put together. If you can follow some simple instructions and the thought of taking a saw and a screwdriver to your cabinet doesn't send you into a panic then you can install this. It shouldn't even take more than an hour all in all.I bears noting that the faceplate that this kit comes with is a thick plastic. One side is textured with a fine grain so it's not completely awful looking, but a punched metal plate would have been a lot nicer. I recommend installing this kit where it won't be seen.Due to the plastic parts it seems to me that this product is priced a little too high for what it is. I understand that perhaps due to lower volume of product it wouldn't be possible to price it lower, but for what you get it just seems too expensive. There's not even any way to program your own range of temperatures into the logic controller, it's either 81-88F or always on.

Worked perfectly, keeps components cool and is reasonably quiet in my application. I have it installed in a media cabinet from RH, this has solid wood doors and happened to have a 5 inch square hole already cut for wire routing that fit the fan assembly perfectly, although cutting the opening for the fan would have been simple enough with some basic skills and a jig saw. The temperature sensor needs to be located with some thought, away from air intakes and up high in the cabinet works best, I used a little masking tape and tried a few locations before settling on a final spot. You can hear the fan in a quite room, but with any sound at all in the room it is easily drowned out. It is a low frequency and very close to a quite fridge. A great little device, and well thought out, my thanks to Coolerguys!

I have a slim tv stand with my AV Amp installed on one side and Virgin box on the other, I noticed the stand was getting hot after the amp had been on for an hour or so, I wanted to install fans that had thermal control and the Cooler Guys fans were perfect for the job. They are easy to install, quiet, and really do move the hot air, my Amp is now much cooler. I would highly recommend these to anyone with AV equipment in a confined space. Now I just need to purchase another set for the other side of the cab!

I have an entertainment stand that is all enclosed with glass doors. There is no ventilation anywhere within the cabinet, and I have an Xbox 360, cable box, receiver, and modem/router all running within the confined space. I noticed upon playing Xbox that the temps inside the cabinet skyrocketed, to the point of red rings and equipment overheating and acting funny. Well, not even 6 months after purchasing the console, the Xbox fried, so I knew I had to add some sort of cooling product to alleviate the problem or else I would fry my new Xbox in another 6 months. Enter this product from [...]. The product is exactly what I needed. Using a jigsaw, I cut out the opening in the back panel of the entertainment stand (the thin wood that covers the back... this would be a tough install on a solid thick backing). One tip I learned is that you have to cut out a rectangle a little smaller than the supplied panel cover. I tried to just cut the circles out for the fans, but this made it way too hard to install easily. I went back and cut the full rectangle shape out and voila, went together as easily as everyone else's reviews said. It took me about an hour to put together and cleanup. I turned on the Xbox, receiver, cable box and modem and played continously for 2 hours. Normally, the Xbox would sound like a 747 taking off at this point, but no, it was very quiet. I opened the glass doors to feel inside. What normally felt like an oven (no joke, probably usually 120 degrees plus) was now very comfortable and only felt slightly warmer than room temp. This thing works! In addition, it is truly silent. I just cannot hear it. The Xbox is way louder than the fans, even when the xbox is running low speed. In all, these work as advertised and aren't terribly difficult to install for anyone handy with some power tools. It will certainly cool your components when the furniture design is a dud to begin with. It does seem pricey, but I do believe it will lengthen the life of my components.
