The only thing I didn't like about this knife was that the Sheath supplied was so tightly adhered to the knife I needed to take pliers to remove the knife i'm working with a heat gun to see if I can reconfigure the sheath to properly accept the knife while still holding it Had the knife chief been usable to store and deploy the knife this would have been a five-star review

This is an insanely sharp knife, I'm a little bit scared of it. Handle is a little small but its a neck knife, after all.

Aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. The handle is a good size to easily grab without taking up much space. Overall a good design and a good value. I'd buy a version with a somewhat shorter handle and better steel blade

Love the design and ergonomics, beautifully done. Small yet comfortable to handle in my large hands. Chain is more then big enough to go around your head/neck. Only small issue is, to me, it gets a little heavy after being worn all day on the chain provided but that is just my opinion and could easily be fixed with a wider cord used for the lanyard.

A handy little neck knife that is good to carry in a pinch! The blade and handle are both short, so don’t expect this to be a work knife, and the curve of the blade isn’t great for cutting tape, boxes, etc. However, this was designed as a knife to be carried for defense and it is easy to wear around your neck and used occasionally for the random cutting or stabbing chore that may come along. I like the tactile grip and light weight. If you can find one for a good price it may be worth trying.

Hide Out ist wirklich sehr schlank, geradezu grazil.

I bought this for use while backpacking and hiking. I'm working on going ultralight, 13 pound baseweight currently, and I wanted to cut down on the weight of the knife I carried. I looked at the Gerber UL because it only weighs 0.6 ounces, but I just don't like to leave things to a folder, no matter the weight. I love my blades and I wanted a lightweight fixed blade. This knife fits the bill perfectly.Several things about this blade caught my interest. First, the price was around 20 bucks. The weight caught my eye too. They claim 1.9 oz, but my scales tell it a little differently. I'm not sure what they were weighing with, but my scales are telling me the knife alone weighs 1.5 oz and 2.2 oz with the sheath. The included ball chain cord weighs a half ounce so if I don't decide to wear this that is staying at home. These weights are not a big to most, but for all you pack weight weenies out there will know what I'm talkin about. The grind on this knife was a big deal to me. I love scandinavian puukko style knives and also scandi grinds on my knives. Not often does one find a maker such as Cold Steel putting this on a blade. If you are curious, scandi grind= Very sharp and Easy to sharpen. The sheath keeps it secure and even though it bounced around while I was hiking I never worried that it would fall out. I think I'll try lashing it to my pack strap next time. All in all I was highly impressed with this blade. Great grind, lightweight, solid, and feels good in the hand. Well done CS, Well done.

This knife is light weight. thick blade, unlike the minitac beaver tail I have also by CS. the scandi grind and the blade width on the hideout is perfect for hard use. the satin finish on the blade and the black krayton handle make this knife really stand out. the blade is double edged spear point and the guard is perfect in that your hand won't slip on to the blade and the blade is thick enough you can stab, thrust, deep cut, throw and so far I haven't any issues. Securex sheath which is better than 99% of the sheaths out there and this design is exactly what you want in a boot/neck knife it fulfills the idea behind one. This knife can look menacing or tame considering how you hold it....that's up to you. once it's in my pocket I don't notice it at all. I prefer a fixed blade unless I'm just doing simple EDC tasks. the point on here it like a needle, the grind feels like a zero point grind. I put a lanyard on the hold in the handle b/c with out it the knife feels so good in the "reverse" grip that you just want to stab things all day, but you can't or at least that's frowned on by non knife people. This knife eats cardboard, slices up anything AUS 8 should be put in front of. SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT YET PACKS TONS OF UTILITY.the handle and the sheath are black I put a green lanyard on the handle and blue tip ties on the sheath for some color so it stands out if I drop it in the woods. not a bad idea.

I think this is a very well made knife, like all cold-steel products. They certainly took some liberties with this knife to keep the weight down but I found the handle is SO thin that it's difficult for my monkey-like hands to grip. The handle is certainly long enough to put a thumb over the end of the handle comfortably, but one may want to wrap the handle in a few layers of grip-tape to bulk it up a bit.
