It’s well-made and gets the job done, but it feels cheap for the price. I don’t understand the overinflated price tag, as there are similar options at a lower cost.

This barely fits my Meyer for alto. I have an old brass ligature from a beginner MP that works just as well if not better and it didn't cost me anything. I keep hoping someone will actually make a good ligature but I haven't seen any since the late 80s. I cannot find anything remarkable bout these ligatures. Whatever material they're made from they seem pretty sturdy and not too easy to bend. They will hold a reed in place provided you can actually tighten them enough before the screws bottom out. I have to push the ligature all the way to the back of the mouthpiece to get it to tighten and not bottom out. The faux diamond glass I could do without. The glass makes the ligature look just a little gaudy.

I've been playing saxophone since 1963. I'm always on the lookout for new gear & accessories and decided to order this recently advertised ligature for alto saxophone hard rubber mouthpieces. I have several mouthpieces that this lig should fit, including a New York Meyer clone, a couple Yamaha pieces, Vandoren/Rico, etc.Firstly, let me say that the ligature does "fit" my rubber & plastic mouthpieces; the size of the lig is not the disappointing issue to me. The manufacturing of several of the components, as well as how they fit together is the troubling part of the product. The tightening screws (they provide you with 4 for no really good reason) seem to have very small burrs (for lack of a better way of putting this) among the threading, which causes attempting to tighten & loosen the screws to be an aggravating process. I even used a fine machine oil on each screw, trying to improve the insertion and backing off action, which didn't remedy the situation entirely. Additionally, the threading of the screws & associated insertion channels in the actual ligature is of coarse versus more narrow gauge; this tends to give the screwing in and out functions a "sloppy" feel (see photo with red circles over screw threads); I would highly recommend that this part of the lig be re-engineered, using finer/machine type threading. Also, there is ongoing binding on one side of the ligature, leaving a gap between one of the tightening screws and the clamping portion of the accessory (see red circle near the screw head); one has to work at pushing through this gap during the tightening process, which has been another frustration as the movement of the screw head against this stop/clamping portion should generally be smooth/fluid.I am very disappointed that a mouthpiece/ligature cover cap did NOT come with this expensive accessory. This is an unusual looking ligature. After studying it for a while, my impression is that the designer may have been attempting to produce something that would be more visually attractive at first glance to the potential buyer. I have no idea what type "stone" was used for the jewelry like inserts on the top of the ligature as these are not discussed in the product's description. It is a playable ligature and, to my surprise, helped produce a more vibrant tone on the 50s Conn 6M that I tested the lig with. I swapped out a light Rovner and also a Vandoren "H-Lig" for comparison purposes; the tone produced by this Challenger ligature seemed to give the horn more of a metal mouthpiece sound versus hard rubber, which was certainly interesting (and attractive) to me.So, I'm conflicted about this product. I cannot recommend this ligature for the currently advertised price point given the design and operational flaws mentioned. Should the manufacturer make some relevant improvements to the general function of the lig, I might be more willing to talk further about its potential use & value.

This ligature has some nice heft to it and reeks of quality. noticeable difference to sound coming from the cheap ligature originally on the sax. Would recommend!

This saxophone ligature is a high quality accessory designed to secure the reed the mouthpiece of an alto saxophone, the wide compatibility makes it a versatile option for saxophone whoown or switch between different brands, it is appears to have a durable, likely brass-based construction with a gold finish, a well-designed ligature like this one can help deliver a rich, resonate sound while allowing for freer vibration of the reed, perfect fit that hold the reed in place without excessive pressure, helping maintain consistent tone and ease of play.Overall, this ligature fits well on the mouthpiece, allows for proper reed vibration, and offers secure holding will generally improve a player's experience.

This is a solidly constructed ligature. Feels well made. It's functional, but I don't know if I would say it sounds "better." Just a tiny bit different, but honestly small differences are all you will really get from a ligature. Probably a bit expensive for what it is.

it came with two extra screws, and it looks amazing. it was super well designed, and I love it. it has a diamond lining though I'm not sure if they're real or not. it really helped my playing, and I love the gold finish on it. I believe this is one of the best ligatures on the market.

This is a beautiful ligature. I wonder if they spent more time on the design rather than the function because I find this difficult to adjust. However, I like the sound that I get with this ligature on my saxophone. It has a brighter sound. So, I guess I will put up with the difficulty I am having in exchange for the richer sound.
