These are a very soft material--not too thick, not too thin, so I imagine they would be good for casual wear.They're also a comfortable fit. While I got these for a 7-year old (US boys' size 11.5), they looked so good that I had to try them myself. The photos show how my own foot (women's US size 6) fits nicely in the foot, but tight in the legs just above the ankle. So I guess they'll stay with my 7-year old after all! On him, the fit is perfect, with some room for him to grow since the socks currently don't need to stretch much at all to get on his feet. They go up to the mid-calf level on him, though he's rather short for a 7-year old.I'm pretty happy with these, except that they seem to be on the pricier side for kids' socks.
