Used this to re insulate my oven that had the old insulation chewed by mice. Took some doing but she preheats in half the time now. Super upgrade. Wear a mask and gloves though and clothes you don't mind tossing after your done.

Amazing stuff, used it in a backyard aluminum casting furnace. Only used two layers, the inside is probably 1500F, the outside doesn't get over 200F. Easy to work with. Read the notices that come with it.

I don't have any other products to compare against, but this blanket serves the function I got it for well. I built a home forge and was hoping the internal temperature would get hot enough to forge weld steel together. I was using fire brick liner with no success. When I lined a new forge with this ceramic blanket it did the trick! Since installing this new insulation I have been successful at making damascus! I wasn't sure, with many on forums saying it's nearly impossible to weld with propane, but I'm proof it is indeed possible with the right insulation. If you're on the fence but want to achieve high Temps then this is the product to do it. The price blows away other small blankets with the sheer quantity, bang for your buck. If in the future(years from now considering how much I need for lining 2 layers deep) I need more, I'll definitely look for this same product. Low relative price, quick shipping(7 days or so), and a product that does exactly what is claimed makes me a customer for life for this insulation.Seriously, order some... you won't be disappointed!

I bought this stuff to insulate my side barrel bbq smoker and it certainly did the trick. The portion that covers the barrel barely feels warm to the touch and the piece I place over the firebox can still be handled(with gloves to prevent cermic slivers in my hand) with no problems. Just as a test I held a blow torch with MAP gas to it and it glowed red, but when I took the torch away you'd never be able to tell. However, while it's not a fault of the material I will caution anyone interested that this is a fairly loose material and can be hard to work with. Even though it's difficult to get a needle through I was able to sew a cover for the piece of insulation I wrapped around the smoker barrel out of standard high temperature fabric meant for ironing boards I have yet to find a good means of containing the part that insulates the firebox because it keeps burning every cover material I try.
