I originally purchased this and it did not work. I returned it and the new replaced unit had the same problem. Then it suddenly started working and then failed to light once again. This unit is cheap. I feels cheap. The knob on the bottom is jammed. The instructions were one tiny page and I had to use a magnifying glass to even read them. When used correctly it does not work. I have replaced the battery twice and it still does not work. It had proper amount of butane. Still nothing at all What a wastes on money and effort . Buyer beware!!

Our propane furnace pilot blew out when the heat had been off and there were extremely strong winds coming down the input and output vents from the roof. The cold air rushing out the provided hole to light the pilot blows out wooden matches that are attached to the wire extension that reaches the back of the furnace. In the past, it has taken up to half an hour to successfully get a flame to the pilot without the match blowing out. With the Camco lighter having the option of continuous electronic ignition, I lit the pilot on the first try, inserting the neck in the hole and then activating the lighter after it was in position over the pilot.I'm sure it would also be good for reaching under a camp fire lay to light the tinder, but have not tried that. Lighting wood stoves would be another use.For safety, both the top and bottom buttons plus a slide lock must be pressed at the same time to start the flame. Both top and bottom buttons can be twisted to lock against accidental pressing. Once lit, holding only the top button keeps the butane flowing. The bottom button can be released if continuous electronic ignition is not required.

Bought this lighter and used it for couple of years now. Works great, long reach , huge flame. The continuous ignition is a must have in windy conditions. The time came to replace the battery as the ignition started to get weaker. That’s when I had trouble getting it to work with a standard AA battery. It comes with a thinner AA battery and when you place an Energizer or Duracell battery, the tight fit with the cover separates the battery contact. After reading some reviews on Amazon, I located a thinner AA battery and that worked ok. The manufacturer should look into this to make it work with any AA battery.

I've had one of these for about seven years. I use it to light a gas furnace pilot that is hard to reach. I can depress the pilot switch, while using the lighter to reach the hole to light it.I also use it to light trash fires while keeping a safe distance away. It's a great product and I highly recommend it.There is only one problem...if the battery needs replaced, it is very hard to find a battery that fits in the compartment. Toshiba R6KG is the battery that was included in my lighter. It can be located online and purchased. The batteries last a long time.

I have been looking for a long fireplace lighter for a long time, and this one is perfect for my needs. I have a gas fireplace I burn wood in, only use gas to light the wood and then turn off the gas. Lighters I have used are too short, and sometimes gas ignites quickly. This is long enough I am far away from any small explosion that occurs. I like the long flame it puts off, much better than cheaper plastic lighter sticks I had. I feel the price is rather high, but if I can use if for a long time, it should be reasonable per year in the long run. I have only used it once, and my remarks at based on initial use. I don't expect any surprises, as it seems to be well made.

Really a great idea. Really really poor quality. I knew there were quality issues when I bought this thing, so I treat it like a fragile doll and it's still falling apart. I've used it maybe 20 times and I doubt it will see the next 20 before completely falling apart. Don't even think about transporting this thing in any kind of tool box - it belongs on the top shelf behind locked glass doors. As far as functionality goes - it's ok. The constant flame works well enough, but the intensity of the flame varies considerably depending on how you position the lighter. You get everything from a torch effect (what I was looking for) through a bic lighter set on low (not what I was looking for).Yes - I am using ultra premium butane. Probably doesn't matter though as it will likely break before it would have clogged up.

Very happy with this product. Finally, something I can use to light our chandeliers during formal dinners.I had an issue with one of multiple orders and this excellent company got back to me very quickly and efficiently. They even had the replacement delivered the next day which is a Sunday! - Flame is constant and perfect, length and reach is very ample for our needs. - One instant click and it lights up. - Although we had to learn about the childproof safety locks/switches which are very good, very effective design. - I do not need to get disposables anymore because of its recharge ability.I will be buying three more for our fireplaces after the initial test. Thank you!
