The electroplated film ripped off the first time I used it.

Okay, they got me. there's enough baloney in the product description to make a dozen sandwiches. These four-inch diamond polishing pads from the CALIDAD TOOLS Store on Amazon are actually pretty nice. They are designed to be used on your angle grinder, wet or dry, to polish very hard things such as tile and granite. There's a nice range of grits, and they seem to last a good time on granite. One promise they make is that they're quality pads I can afford. How do they know what I can afford? They also say for pros by pros, which seems to cut out a huge market of DIYers and artisans. Well, it didn't stop me, and I'm no pro. The pads are nice, and they last. If you don't already have a four-inch Velcro backing pad for your angle grinder, you will need to get one.

I am using these to wet sand fused glass, and they were great. For perfect grits. Will definitely be re-ordering.

I had used some granite tiles to cover a bathroom countertop, but there were no bullnose edges that could be installed. I resorted to installing with the sharp edge and then used the diamond polishing pads to smooth out and round out the hard edge. These work better with water, but could also be used dry.

This is not quite what I thought it was. It was hard to tell from the pictures. I thought this was going to be a hard pad I could hook up to my grinder for polishing. This is actually a soft velcro pad to hook up to a backing pad or sander.

I've used a couple different types of polishing pads for polishing fired pottery. The range of grits on this are nice as I like to use different grits for clays of different amounts of grog. I wasn't sure about the electroplating at first and these pads are a little flimsy feeling compared to resin pads. However, they've held up well so far. I've found that they're pretty predictable regarding the amount they take off. After a little practice I don't really even think about it anymore. Overall, I recommend them.

I'm a tile and stone installer, so these are the kinds of tools I work with every day. I've bought Calidad tools a number of times before, and had good experiences with them, so I don't hesitate to get more. The pads range from 60 grit to 400, which is the range that I use far more than the finer/higher grits. I would've loved for the set to include a rougher/lower one than 60, but those can be hard to find, so 60 works just fine. Many of the cheap pads that you find online and in stores actually don't grind or polish well at all, straight out of the box. These work well and I'm confident that they will last.Calidad means "quality", in Spanish, and I've never gotten anything that wasn't quality from them. I definitely recommend these pads.

I've used resin backed diamond pads for several years on concrete countertops. I have produced some highly polished, high-end counters using Stadea pads for no other reason than because I use their polisher and it came with a set, so I've always just replaced my pads with the same. I suspect most of the resin pads out there are made by just a few companies anyway. I've used 4" and 5". both are standard depending on your purpose. 4" is pretty small for most uses but are perfect for small areas and edges if you use a suitably sized disk and machine. Larger are good for production and are more stable. Smaller discs being less stable require more care so as not to polish unevenly or even do damage through gouging, etc. as the polisher wobbles or tips. Skill matters.I mention all that because this is the first time I've used these electroplated pads, so I am not an expert. But I can now make a fair comparison on a few important points. I am currently making two vanity counters that are 20" by 36", so not a big area. I like to grind and polish the underside at the front edge for just a couple of inches where someone's fingers might slide along the bottom of the counter. I tried these there so that if they were a fail, they wouldn't ruin my top surface.First, these are not fine, meaning they are a bit crude and aggressive. Comparing these with resin backed pads grit to grit--50 to 50, 100 to 100 and so on--these remove more material, less evenly, and can leave gouges easier if you tip the polisher slightly, which is easy to do with a 4" pad.Second, I found that they do wear more quickly. They aren't all that thick to begin with, and so the initial wear might look more alarming than it is. But my limited use of these on two vanity slabs tells me they won't last as long even though I can't tell you how long. What do I conclude? I rate them down a star only because I think they aren't as durable and cost more than resin pads. But they are not junk and do have a purpose. I would use them to remove material from a slab that is being prepared for polishing, but not to do the polishing. Having said that, it isn't enough to justify the high price. I think you should consider your project and buy accordingly, but I don't see myself buying more of these.
