These shackles are very good looking and overall a great design. However, I do have a few issues with them that I wish I would have known before ordering them. The first issue is the fact that the powder coating is not a high gloss red. It is definitely a matte finish and the application looks thin in some areas. The second issue is the fact that they do not come with any rubber spacers for the pin to prevent them from sliding around when installed like some other options i looked at had. The final issue I have with these is that there is no locking pin or set screw on the shackle. There is nothing preventing anyone from unscrewing these and running off with them in a parking lot somewhere.Ultimately, I will be keeping these installed as I genuinely like the look and feel of these. However, they are getting sent off to a powder coater to have a better finish applied and I bought and installed some rubber spacers from a hardware store. I planned on drilling and tapping my own set screw, but i worry about weakening the shackle by doing so.

This is a nice set of shackles. I really like the design. For those who have a vehicle of matching color I can see them getting these just for decoration even if they don't intend to use them. That aside, these are made well and are large and thick. I have not doubt, even though I haven't put them to a 42,000 pound test since I don't have a dump truck to pull around, they will handle any job I will ever need them for.

These are good shackles in my opinion. They look great on my front bumper and I like the looks of them. They fit the mounting points on my bumper fine. The only thing I am not sure about is all the sharp edges on the inside of the hoop that will probably dig into straps or ropes and scar them or otherwise damage them. I have not used these to recover yet so these edges might not be a problem. Just something to think about and the reason for 1 star reduction. If you just want them because they look cool, then they would easily be a 5 star product.

I used these shackles to help install my 60' radio tower. Well within the sellers stated ratings, these shackles gave me a secure sense of safety.The fit and finish are far beyond what you would expect to find on such a utilitarian device. The pin easily screws into the lugs.I estimate my total pull on them was less than 500lbs, so a considerable safety margin. I can't comment on the sellers claimed rating other than to say they certainly look like they could handle several thousand pounds of pull.
