Like others say, it does sound a bit like a blast furnace when turned on high, but it doesn't seem to consume gas at a higher rate than other stoves I've owned. If you want to use the 1lb propane tanks made by Coleman, you need an adapter, which I also got on Amazon and installed right away.Because I cook with a real sized skillet and not a "heat-and-eat" small camp pot I need the heat to distribute well, and this thing does that. It's also level and stable. After 2yrs the travel sack that comes with it is still alive, with a few rub marks where the feet are but nothing major.I even left this thing out overnight when it rained and it just blasts the water out when you turn on the gas and lights with no problem. It got some surface rust on the unfinished parts of the burner but that wiped off. It's been smooshed dozens of times by shifting cargo while traveling too, and nothing has broken.Just be careful when packing the steel braided line so it can get kinked against any of the legs.

Flames engulfed tea kettle and nearly caught face on fire. Wish I would have had my camera to take a picture. It was scarey what it did and the valve was not even open all the way.

She doesn't exactly sip fuel but it works very well with a cast iron pan. I highly suggest using one pound propane tanks with it. You'll need a converter/adapter, but worth it if you have the room in your pack.
