I hadn't used a hand mixer for years, but I wanted something smaller and less cumbersome than a stand mixer and this did the job perfectly. I didn't read the instructions at first and just popped the blades in there like the old days. But they didn't fit quite right and fell out when I turned it on. So I read the instructions and saw that the blades have a different geometric shape on each end so you can tell them apart. I put the circle in the left hole and the hexagon in the right hole and then I was in business. It whipped up my batter in seconds and didn't make any burning plastic smells like new appliances occasionally do.I was also surprised to see dough hooks in it--this is a big development in hand mixers as far as I know. I do make sourdough bread every so often so I will update my review once I have had the chance to put this to the test. One feature that I really appreciate is the sturdy canvas bag that stores the instructions and two sets of blades. So many manufacturers now use synthetic "Oxford cloth" and I am pleased that Braun's bag is a thick cotton cloth that will last for decades. It makes me happy so that some products are still made with improved quality in mind. Highly recommended.

It’s been a fantastic addition to my kitchen! The sleek black design looks modern and fits nicely in my countertop space. It comes with a set of beaters, dough hooks, and a convenient accessory bag to keep everything organized. The mixer performs incredibly well. The beaters are perfect for whipping, mixing, and beating, while the dough hooks handle bread and pizza dough with ease. The motor is powerful yet quiet, and the adjustable speed settings give me plenty of control depending on the task.

Accidentally ordered this mixer and missed that it is only 250W. NO Power. Cannot even Whip Cream.

My old Kitchenaid hand mixer has served me well for many years, but is nearly worn out. I had a Braun stand bread mixer years ago that I really liked, so I thought I'd try this new Braun hand mixer. This mixer is much more lightweight, and as you can tell from the photos, the beaters and dough mixers are longer, and the shafts are not as thick as my old ones were. Both kinds of beaters are keyed to specific slots in the mixer, and it is pretty easy to tell where each one goes - there is a matching shape around each opening. They snap in place nicely, and there's a push button release for them on the mixer.Be sure to use a deep bowl when mixing something that is initially thin. I tested these in a 5 cup measuring cup with only 2 cups of milk with pudding mix in it, and had lots of spatters well outside the bowl. A deeper container would have been better; I tried water in a narrower container, and it did contain most of the spatters (see photo). Spattering occurs with most hand mixers, but I think these taller beaters are likely to spatter more, especially when mixing smaller amounts of liquid. Batters will likely be less of a problem. The cord wrap bump out on the bottom really does keep the power cord from slipping off, should you choose to wrap it around the mixer. The base of the power cord only moves up or down, and I chose to not have sideways tension on it by wrapping the cord. The cord and protective sleeve at its base may handle that totally fine over time, but appears to me to be a more standard size and thickness rather than a heavy duty cord, and I want it to last.As far as mixing, the beaters worked well. They come with a canvas bag to store them in, which I found sturdy but stiff to open and close. I tried several times to see the "slow start technology" this mixer claims to have even on the box, but could never observe it. All the speeds just seemed to come on at full power. The instruction booklet is pretty basic and mainly has cautions, which include not running it on thick dough for more than 5 minutes at a time, and batters for more than 10 minutes at a time. The mixer is smooth, fairly quiet, and seems to have a lot of power from its 250 watt motor. I like that it has 5 speeds. It also says on the box that it has a 3-year warranty: you pay shipping there, and they pay shipping back to you. I'm hoping Braun's reputation for quality carries over into this mixer, and will update this as I use this mixer more.
